Langstrath Country Inn The Langstrath Country Inn provides quality hotel accommodation in Borrowdale. Set in the jaws of the Langstrath valley in the quiet unspoilt Lakeland village of Stonethwaite 'The Langstrath', a small local family run haven for walkers and lovers of the countryside, was built around 1590 as a miners cottage and has over the years been converted and extended to what it is today.

We have 8 comfortable bedrooms all boasting magnificent views of the surrounding Lakeland fells. Downstairs, there is a spacious residents lounge with open fire, as well as a cosy bar where residents and locals alike share tales of the days Lake District adventure.

We booked a table here from a recommendation and we were not disappointed. Turned up late after a long day of hiking, but they were very understandable and accommodating. Gorgeous food and generous portions. Fantastic choice of beers. Highly recommended.

Very welcoming staff and excellent quality food served with a good selection for all. Worth calling ahead to book a table as they do get busy but the service we received was above and beyond. We will be coming back when we are back in the area in a couple of months.

Called for a refreshing pint after a 5.5mile strenuous walk, beer garden was relaxed and dog friendly with water bowls supplied, and bad maid bought biscuits to all dogs there at the time. Staff were friendly and good service.

What's not to like, it's small, so if you want to eat its best to book, but it's setting is beautiful and it has a pleasant little beer garden.

Very welcoming and friendly staff who work hard to serve and make everyone happy. Good evening meals and breakfast all freshly cooked. Only criticism was the ludicrously expensive and tiny cheese and biscuits. Warm and comfortable bedrooms and nice bathrooms. Peaceful location and popular with C2C walkers. Great residents lounge too.

We didn't stay in the hotel so I can't comment on that. However the food was fantastic and the bar staff, especially Karen, were welcoming and friendly. I'm not vegan but noticed three unusual and well thought out dishes for those who are. Would definitely go back.

A gem of a place in a remote Lakeland valley. The rooms were warm, clean and comfortable. The food was delicious, both dinner and breakfast. Good vegetarian options. Fully recommended.

Over 20 quid for 2 pints, chips that had been reheated about 5 times and the smallest beef sandwich I've ever seen. Used to like it here. Never again.

Could do with more veggie and especially vegan options but food was good and we found a way around that problem Flys were flying around the restaurant but wouldn't say that's their fault. Overall wouldn't say bad choice but many improvements could be made.

A perfect place for a drink and lunch. Delicious food - the smoked salmon sandwich and sweet potato fries were to die for!

The rooms are well decorated and beds comfortable with modern, very clean bathrooms. Restaurant food is exceptionally well presented and very nicely cooked. They have a good selection of real ales and some. other stuff for the ladies. Service was above par even with the current hospitality staffing issues. A nice touch for walkers is the drying room. Bonus points for that. It's not a budget b&b but you get what you pay for and more. Excellent value for money all round.

The pheasant dinner was a real treat, very enjoyable pint of Shipyard pale ale too would be lovely to come here in the winter and enjoy the log fire. The surrounding area makes for a very nice wander afterwards.

Delicious food in a beautiful setting with excellent service. Thank you to Matte for looking after us so well. (P.s We left in a hurry and weren't able to provide our tip in person but hope it was received without any issues! Thanks again from the table with the gentlemen who couldn't finish his cumberland sausage)

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago -so some restrictions still in place- however these were well handled by all the staff. We had a wonderful stay, friendly greeting from the staff. We had booked the Garden Room which is apart from the main building but extremely comfortable & immaculately clean with the benefit of its own private garden. Useful residents parking. Included breakfast is extensive & good. Dinner menu was superb & innovative- we could have chosen any of the daily specials. Hope to return soon.

The food is absolutely incredible. everything is homemade, and I mean everything. From the curtsey bread all the way through to the deserts. Location is spectacular. Would highly recommend! Booking is essential- for either the rooms or tables- they fill up quickly!

Great beer in great surroundings with great staff. Foods pretty good too, and you can't beat a great log fire when you need it.
