A very warm welcome by the manager Simon who certainly is a safe pair of hands to take this beautiful hotel forward.

Staff were amazing, their care and friendliness were great and they were very professional, BUT they are 100% understaffed which led to some bad experiences. No proper reception, so if you arrive while 1 of 2 staff are dealing with others, you will wait just to be checked in. The room was not cleaned/tidied up when we came the following evening back, i had to call reception to request towels, but because none were at reception- no one answered the phone, so had to go downstairs where a friendly staff member helped straight away.

The menu in restaurant is same and limited for a whole week, however the quality of food is AMAZING. Again the two key staff members dealing with reception, bar and restaurant were brilliant! I just wish they had extra man power because at their prices for Wales, those mistakes were not acceptable. People pay for experience - experience was undermined.

17 for a glass of wine! Yes, you read that right 17 for a glass. One hour 15 minutes wait for breakfast.

Beautiful venue but below average customer service. The wedding we attended was enjoyable, but the food as a general guest was cold and dull. Wish it could have been better, perhaps with more staff they could have improved

Lovely hotel and grounds where we stayed 3 nights for a wedding. Wedding was great and wedding food lovely. However, for the other meals we were really disappointed. The breakfast was fine but menu limited, but couldn't get dinner, lunch or room service for the non-wedding related meals. We had to go to the local shop and buy ourselves a picnic. Not what we expected for such a very expensive hotel!

The good: most of the staff were lovely and friendly, the setting, hall and grounds are gorgeous. Our room was lovely (I would recommend a state room) The bad: we ordered a bottle from the wine list via the waitress (we were unaware there is a sommieler). It was 40 which is more than I would normally spend as NHS salaries aren't big! The wine wasn't good and when I looked it up I was shocked to see it retails at 8.

I expect a 2-3 X mark up but X5 is a rip off and leaves a bad taste! Given their award winning wine list in 2020 I would expect all the wines to be decent and no major pitfalls. When I gave feedback in person I was told I should have asked the sommieler and when I emailed privately an acknowledgement of receipt is all we received My partner also made the error of asking a question about the size of the sirloin cut and was informed patronisingly that the restaurant is a "fine dining" experience and it wouldn't be an 8oz Steak.

We are younger and felt treated as if we were out of place. We have attended Michelin star restaurants and can assure the hall their food is nice but not exceptional. Even if people are coming who do not normally frequent such establishments being rude and making them feel out of place isn't acceptable or good business. A shame! It took a shine off birthday celebrations. Other hotels on our trip gave a better dining experience and much nicer wine!

This place was an absolute joy to stay at. The scenery is just superb and the old building is an absolute delight! The staff here are very friendly and attentive, nothing seems too much trouble. The room and facilities were very clean and smelt really fresh. All kudos to the house keepers here! The chefs also produced some excellent meals and taster options, very creative!

We stayed for a few nights here over a recent bank holiday as a birthday present for me and I really felt that I would miss the place when we left, I don't ever remember feeling like that about a hotel stay before. Well done to all the staff here! Would highly recommend!

All the food was amazing. We had breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea whilst there and it was all great. Staff are really friendly and the room was lovely. Doesn't have air con though so it's rather hot in the night. We had a great time there :

There really no words to describe the hotel. It is by far the most beautiful place we have stayed. From the ambiance to the impeccable service the stay was amazing. Shout out to Brian who is the true definition of the perfect butler et al. The staff can't do enough for you and if I was getting married this would be the place.

My husband and I LOVE this place. Go here if you want a TRUE Welsh country side experience. Pros: -good prices on rooms. We will splurge and go for the big rooms next time. -their breakfast which is included in the room rate. Their eggs are from the hens and ducks in their garden. They have BLUE eggs also! -their tea experience and sandwiches are delicious! -wonderful service.

Everyone is so nice. -parking is easy. Cons: -no elevator so might be tough if you have big luggage. -no water in room. You will need to ask to be brought up. -the bed we had in room 2 was slightly uncomfortable. You can tell the bed is old but that's part of the charm I'm presuming. The bed sheets are nice. -their "honor bar" for the alcohol is expensive $$$$.
