Scotland's Oldest Inn was established on the 3rd of November 1572, with the "model" village (now a conservation area) of Kenmore being built around the hotel from 1760. The hotel is situated in the Heart of the Scottish Highlands, deep within Rob Roy and Campbell country. Nestling on the banks of the River Tay the Hotel is famous for its warmth, charm and Highland hospitality.

Great location, amazing views and cozy reception with open fire. Then it's a retro visit to the 80s and not in a good way. Tired rooms, tacky corridors, " no power " shower, and the most irritating thing was no room clean due to covid but no staff at any time wore a mask. An excuse to take the money and offer less. The worst pillows anywhere and had to request loo roll. Image better than reality, I was so glad to leave the depressing surroundings that was room 9.

The hotel is quaint and in a super quiet location with loch and river views. Nice walks in the surrounding area. We had a welcome greeting from the reception staff. We ate at the hotel, the food was good, my husband had the venison and I had the duck, both well cooked but the accompanying jus was lacking taste in both dishes. The staff were welcoming on arrival and didn't have to wait long for our main course.
This was not the case for the dessert order which after receiving the menu, no one came to take the order and eventually we had to ask a member of staff clearing tables. The other staff members seem to be congregating around the bar area and oblivious to their clients needs as there were others in the same situation.

We had a really bizarre stay at the Kenmore over Valentines weekend. In terms of the positives, the staff were all really lovely & friendly, the bed was huge & very comfortable, and the dinner was tasty if a little pricey for what it was. Unfortunately the negatives far outweighed the positives for us. When we first arrived in the room, we couldn't help but notice how dishevelled it was.
The very first thing we saw when we walked in was a large chair which had bad staining all over the upholstery. The shower screen & rubber sealant were dirty and there were cracks & stains on the bathroom walls. This doesn't seem such a big deal until you remember how much you've paid for the room. Breakfast on both mornings was by far the biggest disappointment.
We were told it was served between 8am and 10am, so we arrived just before 9.30, to find there was very little left. A small amount of watery scrambled eggs, some very undercooked bacon and the driest looking sausages I've ever seen sat at the buffet, surrounded by debris from other guests which hadn't been tidied. When we asked about the sausages, we were told that they didn't have pork sausages today, just Quorn sausages.
The menu online offers eggs benedict, smoked salmon, continental cooked meats & cheeses, black pudding, pancakes, crumpets, mushrooms etc, none of which was actually on offer. It was almost comical that everything we needed was not available; despite a buffet layout, it seemed nothing was being topped up by staff when running out. We had to ask for glasses for our juice, milk for the cereal, bread for the toasting machine, ketchup. at one point I asked for some milk for my coffee and the woman brought over - I kid you not - a litre jug of milk, and left it at our table.
We had to laugh at the chaos of it all. The final nail in the coffin was an evening shower that caused a flood in the bathroom. The shower was on for no longer than 3 minutes before the whole bathroom floor was covered in water. Obviously the shower drain hadn't been cleared during cleaning and was totally blocked, so the water just seeped out under the shower door.
Again I have to reiterate that the staff were lovely and very understanding, but I just felt that we've stayed in hotels before for the same price and experienced a much higher quality. I was reluctant to pay my 220 bill at the end of the stay, and I wouldn't stay again.

Decent hotel overall, could do with a bit more tarting up but considering the age of the place it has it's charm. The poet's bar is a great place to enjoy a cold drink infront of the fire. Due to the season not all of the hotel was open(Boar's Head Bar closed) and we did find the menu in the resaurant limited. Only two meat options(Chicken or Fish) unless you wanted to pay 7 supplement for a steak.
If you'd have stayed more than a couple nights this would certainly become repetitive. Kenmore itself doesn't have much but Aberfeldy has some nice shops/cafes. Would definitely return.

We stayed here at the start of December and had a great stay. The man checking us in was friendly and helpful. The room by far exceeded our expectations and was huge and comfortable. The bar area is great and breakfast the next morning was very tasty. Great value and we will definitely be back as Kenmore is one of our favourite places.

Good friendly reception on booking in, we were given the key to the room, the room was not cleaned and beds not made up, informed reception, went back to the room 3 hours later at 19.00 and it was still not made up. Reception gave us another room. Very limited dinner menu due to power disruptions from the storm, small portions and slightly expensive On the positive the hotel was warm, the staff were friendly and cheery, the room was good and warm. Lovely setting on the banks of the River Tay.

My taxi had broken down and whilst awaiting recovery I used the facilities and had a quick soft drink. The young lady on reception was very helpful and friendly. Her attitude and willingness to help was superb. So much so that I have a holiday coming up very soon and intend booking in to the Kenmore for a couple of nights

Unpretentious yet classic; both comfortable and cozy. A pub with all the basic drinks welcomes guests, and boasts a hand-written poem by Robert Burns, scrawled on the wall back in the 1700s. Unfortunately there was no dinner from their restaurant while we stayed there, due to understaffing thanks to 2020, but the breakfast buffet was delicious. I can't wait to return!
