The Ivy Hill Hotel

Lovely, tranquil and clean hotel. Staff are really pleasant, friendly and helpful. My husband and I stayed at Ivy Hill to be close to Creamfields Festival which was close by and the rooms were comfortable, breakfast was very nice and we could of had room service with drinks late on at night when we returned. Lovely atmosphere and when we're in the area again this place will definitely be our go to.

Very shabny hotel and overpriced. The room is brown and miserable. I won't be staying here again. No pressure from the shower and no breakfast included in the overpriced room.

Dust everywhere. Mini shower gel in the bathroom was half empty, although its not even worth getting into the shower which literally has a sign saying expect 'rain- water' not a power shower. Can hear all the surrounding doors closing at night or anyone walking through the corridor.

Over priced for what it was. The manager is rude to a level I've never witnessed before in a hotel. She was rude to the guests and staff. I could go on for hours about that woman, revolting. The overpriced room had dirty towels and a shower that has the pressure of a leaky tap. The messed up the payment for our room and told us that we had to investigate it and they will charge our card again until WE resolved their mistake.

We will NEVER stay again. The only reason I am giving 1 star is because the rest of the staff were amazing! kind, friendly and professional. I feel sorry for them working under such an unprofessional woman.

Great price, great service, lovely room and a very good location for access to local areas. Plenty of parking and a lovely restaurant next door.

Have just celebrated my husbands 80th birthday. I booked a celebration lunch in one of the private dining rooms for 20 people. Also had a beautiful bar area to greet friends. As we don't live in the area now, I had to organise it remotely. A huge thank you to Charlotte & all the waiting staff. We & our guests had a wonderful afternoon.

My husband and I got married here 2 weeks ago and everything was just perfect. The staff are lovely and did absolutely everything they could to make our day run smoothly, the food was really nice and everyone had a brilliant time. Thank you so much to Charlotte, Libby, Emily and all the other staff who we didn't manage to catch the names of but still made our stay and our wedding perfect! x

We recently booked Ivy Hill hotels conference facilities for a strategic partners meeting. From the initial enquiry, Libby and Charlotte could not have been more helpful. Their Covid procedures were very reassuring allowing our day and a half conference to run very smoothly. The dining experience was a very welcome break from the meeting room - well done to all the staff involved.

The staff were great, mandy on reception was especially lovely and accommodating, she made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was good. Rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable, would definitely recommend and would 100% use in the future. Thank you

We had our very small but intimate Wedding Ceremony here in the evening of Weds 24th Nov! From our first point of contact we were treated very special by Charlotte, she made us feel at ease and like nothing was or could've been too much trouble, she is a lovely lady, thank you for all you did and going the extra mile in decorating the ceremony room with flowers, it was perfect!

We would also like to sincerely thank Emily, Libby and Liam, aswell as the rest of the staff, thank you! The bridal suite we stayed in for 3 nights was excellently presented and modern, the decor was different but suited the room. We would also like to say that the food from Bartellas was some of the best food we've ever tasted! No doubt we will be back again! Thank you!

We held a joint birthday party at the hotel, with many guests staying overnight. The staff were all amazing, nothing was too much trouble. The food & drinks were fabulous and every guest that stayed thought the hotel was fabulous

I have been looking at a number of venues in the Chelmsford area to hold a business meeting. Not only were the Ivy Hotel very competitive with their offering, their staff were a credit to the hotel. Charlotte at reception could not have been more accommodating. I am already planning a second booking for my office.

Good location and grounds. Interior a little dated and in need of somd tlc. Breakfast was excellent and bar service good. Duvet was heavy weight and much too hot for time of year.

We held my father's celebration of life at this venue on Monday. The food was excellent and the staff were great. The room was lovely with access to a lovely terrace. Fist class thoroughly recommend this venue.

Staff were very friendly and helpfull. The food was lovely and fresh. Comfy bed, had a good night sleep. The gardens were beautiful, lots of places to wonder and sit outside. Would highly recommend staying.

Lovely hotel very boutique, decorated and furnished to a very high standard. New aircon and fridge installed. Breakfast cooked really well and plenty of good ingredients. The restaurant attached is wonderful food exquisite beautifully cooked and 10 percent discount for residents. Will definitely stay again 10 stars.

A refreshing suprise. My last BW experience was not a good one so I was not really expecting much when my company booked this hotel for me. However I was pleasantly suprised on arrival. The hotel looks like it has recently been refurbished. The reception staff were very helpful. There is a comfortable residents lounge, bar and restaurant. The menu had a typical hotel style selection of options but the food was prepared promptly and was very tasty.

The duck breast starter with cabbage, ginger and honey was particularly nice. The room is clean and fresh and very spacious with good lighting. The toilet had a touch of luxury about it including extremely quilted toilet roll! Added bonuses in the room are freeview and free Wifi. The only thing I have been disappointed about is the lack of a proper glass in the bedroom (plastic bathroom tumbler is the only option) and the room doesn't have air conditioning. I would recommend it as a place to stay for business and pleasure.
