Since 1958 the Glengarry Castle Hotel has been a most comfortable country house hotel with a jewel of a setting.on the shores of Loch Oich which lies between Loch Ness and Loch Lochy in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Small wonder then that guests return time after time to be welcomed by proprietor Janetta MacCallum and her sons Donald and Robert.
All of the 26 bedrooms are individually furnished, have private bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities. Some have four poster or half tester beds. Please note that the hotel does not have an elevator/lift and that there are no ground floor bedrooms. The hotel is completely non-smoking. Please note that all our bedrooms are individual, no two bedrooms are quite the same. The photographs on this website show a small sample of our bedrooms and not all bedrooms have the same features and furnishings as those shown.
Please note that the hotel does not have an elevator/lift and that there are no ground floor bedrooms. The hotel is completely non-smoking. The rate for a third adult sharing a superior family bedroom is 60 daily for bed and breakfast. Our Deluxe bedrooms are the largest bedrooms with the best furnishings and views, luxury Hypnos Richmond mattresses, no children or pets are allowed.
We recommend that you avoid Glasgow unless you are actually visiting the city or surrounding area. Ongoing roadworks often lead to delays and the road (A82) alongside Loch Lomond is very narrow and twisty. Using satellite navigation - our postcode is PH35 4HW, this is not shared by any other building, when you are within a mile of the hotel please follow our signs and not the satnav instructions, they may send you down a potholed farm track!

What a lovely hotel. We only stopped there for coffee and cake while we moored on the loch but we were pleasantly surprised by both the service and our food. The building and the grounds are lovely, full of character and beautiful views over the loch. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Just a 5 min walk through the woodland are the ruins of the old castle. Plenty of car parking at the hotel, if you are driving.

Very old school in design and presentation, but the service is fabulous, attentive and genuinely caring. Avoid the standard rooms which are relatively poor value you end up in the servants quarter trapsing up and down the back stairs. The better rooms are true Victorian magnificence, feel like the laird.

Manager Ann greeted our party upon arrival at 8pm and immediately Informed us that British airways will not be delivering our lost baggages until tomorrow. Although this bad news could not make our situation any better after wearing our unmentionables for 3 days straight.her warm hospitality and the very clean room made ALL the DIFFERENCE! Remember all though this establishment advertises as a castle hotel, the contenintal breakfast or Full scottish breakfast is included at no charge, like a bed n breakfast.
There are Invergarry castle ruins on the property as well as a very cold river nearby in which we spotted children paddling in a floating raft as their guardians were fishing off a boat. There is a beautiful walkway on the dirt path along side the green garden but I don't recommend wheelchair users to roam on this path without supervision.too many holes and bumps.
Cable channels are free, you can purchase dinner for an additional 70 sterling pounds, and the fresh breakfast is fulfillingly tasty. The view from the dining room is glorious although the weather changed from windy grey cloud skies to hail storm and then rain and then sunshine. Completely unpredictable, as expected for UK weather. Go for the experience!
