I stayed here a few weeks ago, whilst working in the area, and couldn't have been more welcome. I was in one of the larger rooms, which was very comfortable but retained the feeling of history that the whole hotel has. The food was good, and reasonably priced, and I enjoyed a nice pint. Parking is a little tight, and there could be some street noise, but this is a quiet village. Overall, a most enjoyable stay, which is not always the case when away working.

Very nice hotel and restaurant. The staff was very nice. The food is delicious! I had the possibility to have a gluten free burger and also the bread for the breakfast was GF. I really recommend it. The rooms are comfortable and clean. I hope to come back. The only negative thing is that breakfast starts at 7.30.so if you are on holiday it's not a big deal but if you are there for work then it will be complicated.

We stayed for one night at the hotel when visiting a nearby hospital. We were well looked after by Kyle and colleagues who were friendly and efficient. We had a pleasant and tasty dinner in the hotel in the evening followed by breakfast in the morning. The room was cosy and the bed was comfortable although there was no view to speak of from the window. The hotel is several hundred years old and is steeped in history - full of character it is a great place to visit, even if only for a drink or meal.

The bedroom and bathroom were clean and we managed to get a parking space which was good. It was a shame that when we asked if we could have the free bottle of wine with the two mains we ordered (like everyone else), that we were told we were too late and that you had to say about the offer before you ordered your food. I think the free wine offer should have been mentioned to us when we ordered by the waiter, like any other establishment with a special offer.
It felt rather unwelcoming after that, even though we were actually staying in the hotel, so good customers. Rather marred the experience really. Small gestures mean the most sometimes.

Amazing hotel, amazing staff amazing food, I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. I have stayed here every week for the past 5 1/2 months and everyone at the George made my stay as welcoming as my own home. Great bunch of people and a lovely place to stay. Rooms are great and cleanliness is second to none. Food is 1st class and the service is exceptional. 10/10.
