Fantastic location, beautiful garden leading onto a forest. Great place to stay to get some peace. Only negative is the hotel is a little tired and musty in places.

Very pleasant stay here, room was old fashioned and comfy, I couldn't have the breakfast due to work timings so they give you a packed breakfast that is excellent.

Fantastic surroundings, impressive approach. inside, a little run down, and requires a bit of TLC. That's fine, we can cope with that. What's not acceptable is cleanliness, or lack of. The room was that dusty that we wrote our names and the date in several places! We went down to complain, no one was on reception, and as we went to ring the bell Sara noticed she could write here initial in the dust by reception!

At that point we realised that it wasn't just a room issue but was how the hotel was run, so decided there wasn't much point saying anything. Looking around our room (Dulas) there were cobwebs all over the place, and at breakfast I noticed slug trails all over the carpet in the bar/conservatory. Looking at the dining room, it was not much better, cutlery on the floor under the cupboard by the front window with cobwebs hanging down.

Such a shame, as the place could be fantastic with some redecoration, TLC, a decent cleaner and a bit of thought. On reflection I'd say it was a bit overpriced, but perfect if you (like we did) want easy access to Coed Y Brenin. And the final verdict, would we stay again? No. Oh, and if you want any kind of atmosphere. forget it!

The hotel is old fashioned but incredibly homely. The owners are very friendly, make every effort to ensure your stay is enjoyable and although the menu is fairly limited this is understandable given there are only a few rooms available. The meals my wife and I chose were very tasty. The scenery is wonderful too. Overall, we loved its individuality and would definitely go back.

Room very small unable to open wardrobe fully as door hit the bed. Bathroom tiny no idea why they've gone with spa baths instead of a shower. Evening menu extremely limited. A very strange place but beautiful scenery.

Nothing more than strange. Beautiful hotel which could be a huge success but was let down by next to no choice of over priced food and odd staff. In any eating establishment there should be varied choice and breakfast should not be a plate of food placed on the table in front of you that you didn't order or want.

Very nice hotel. Great location, lots of walks with waterfalls on the doorstep. Great service and very friendly people. No close places for food. We travelled 40 mins to Spice Bank, which was a lovely independent Indian.

AMAZING! Alan & his staff provided me with a truly superb Welsh experience. As an American, visiting Snowdonia for the first time, Alan graciously educated me on Welsh culture & the castles that were built NOT to keep the English out. Much of our fantastic conversations were over after-dinner drinks & went on late into the night. Nevertheless, he was able to provide me with the best pancakes I've ever had, in or out of Europe, during a delicious breakfast. I will not hesitate to return next time I'm in Wales.

Eclectic and decent hotel in a magical landscape with a genuinely personable and relaxed atmosphere. Will return. Might not to everyones taste but is a good change to the usual model of hotel.

This is second visit and we loved it just as much as before. We wanted a hotel where our dog could stay and we could go for long walks and relax. The hotel is set in a pretty part of Snowdonia with beautiful walks up to waterfalls and across to a lake in the grounds. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and will do their best to help you with anything you need.

There is plenty of choice at breakfast. The bacon and sausages on the cooked breakfast are from the local farm and are the best I have tasted in a long time. Our dog would also vouch for them as he was given his own little 'doggy bag' each day.(Thank you Alan from Woody). We also enjoyed the meals we had in the hotel's romantic, candlelight restaurant. The rooms are spotless and are decorated in keeping with the building with lovely views. We felt refreshed and relaxed after our visit and would not hesitate to return.
