Let good company, a warm and friendly atmosphere create a special holiday break for you. Original parts of the hotel are over 450 years old, previously an old drover's inn, set in the picturesque steeps sided Tal-y-llyn valley here in south snowdonia national park. with low beamed ceilings, many original features still visible, and of course a blazing log fire.!
Situated in the Talyllyn valley at the base of Cader Idris Mountain (it is literally in our back garden) with the start of the Minffordd path only 2 min walk way from our front door.

In this photograph you can see the hotel bottom right of the photo with the awesome & mighty cader idris literally in our back garden.! We are ideally situated for exploring mid & north Wales at the southern tip of the Snowdonia National Park In Gwynedd on the A487 At the Junction with the B4405. Approximately 8 miles from Dolgellau, 9 miles from Machynlleth and 12 miles from Tywyn and 250 yards from Cader Idris car park.
The Mach Loop is a set of valleys, situated between Dolgellau in the north, and Machynlleth in the south (and from which the Mach Loop gets its name), which are regularly used for low level flight training, with flying as low as 250 feet (76 metres) from the nearest terrain. To the south of the Mach Loop there is an area called Tactical Training Area 7T, in which, at specified times, the aircraft may fly as low as 100 feet (30.5 Metres). Generally the jets fly Monday to Friday all year round & certainly not weekends or bank holidays.

The location is absolutely stunning! Right at the trail head for Cadair Idris. Note: the trail head has a free EV car charger next door (pay for parking, no overnight). The hotel and room was exactly as advertised and the service was above and beyond. We had dinner and breakfast on our own in the dining room and it was really nice. Rooms are what you expect from an updated old Inn - comfortable bed and bedding, internet in the common area but spotty in rooms, weird shaped rooms with uneven floors, and toilets tucked in weird locations. But this is all part of the experience and I would happily stay here again for access to the nearby hiking trails workout having to drive anywhere - really great experience!

I haven't even stayed here yet but I just wanted ro say a kind Thank you to the owner who allowed us to swap our booking without charge to another date. The pending storms would have meant dangerous driving conditions to get there. So Thank you again. Looking forward to our stay in a couple of weeks and of course the breakfast and the mountain.

Best sleep I have had in a hotel for a while. I arrived late and missed the evening meal but had a hearty breakfast made with good quality local produce. The black pudding was probably the best I have had. The room was clean and comfortable and the hospitality from the owner was very good. Down side but not the hotels fault there is little or no phone signal. Would stay here again when in the area.
