Built in 1824 as the family home of the Crawshay Iron Dynasty, Cyfarthfa Castle now houses a museum and art gallery with a superb collection of family memorabilia, fine and decorative art, curios from around the world and social history material. Brecon Mountain Railway was built on part of the abandoned Brecon & Merthyr Railway which was originally built in 1859. Travel behind a vintage Steam Locomotive in our all-weather observation coaches and admire the spectacular views on your 10 mile round journey.
I was only stopping for one night, but the room was a good size double with en-suite. I don't know how many other guests there were, but it was quiet inside and despite being in town, was reasonably quiet outside too. Hot water for the shower does take a little time to come through, so you have to be a little patient, but overall I have no faults with the room.

Wither stay in your car or pay 10-20 extra for proper hotel. Staff is great, but only when overlooked by owners themselves. Food great for a good price. Very noisy guests, loud street, beds not the best, and i might be very wrong but this might be used as Hostel for some people as i came across drunks and very odd people. Correct me if im wrong. You get what you pay for.
Parking free after 18:30 till 08:30 But unsecure car park Very risky There is also multi storey car park Single glazed windows Very cold Main heating turned off Water isnt hot enought for shower. And again. Pay more and enjoy your stay somehwere else

Really welcoming atmosphere. Its an old style hotel yes, but its clean and comfortable which for me mattered most! Hair and body wash in the bathroom was a nice touch as was the comfy armchair in my room! Overall good value for money great location just needs a few tweaks! ^^ This was my first room, I stayed here several further times and things got worse from noisy guests (of the not so family friendly nature) next door to a room where none of the lights worked. A shame as it started so well.

Great location the rooms are large with ensuite, tv and tea making facilities. The building is a bit dated, which I don't mind the room I got was very clean the only let down for was no secure parking as I noticed a few local piss cans drinking on the street. The staff are great. What else do you need, .
