The Cairngorm Hotel is Aviemore's Premier Independent Hotel, with the staff offering a warm and friendly welcome. Aviemore is Scotland's top all year resort, offering winter sports such as skiing, curling, and snow boarding in the Cairngorms during winter, and is an excellent base for tours of the Highlands and Inverness-shire, including the famous Whisky Trail and Monarch of the Glen Country. Golf tours are very popular in the area, and there are many activities for families during the summer.

We have enjoyed family meals at the Cairngorm Hotel quite often. The restaurant looks like an old baronial castle! Meals are good quality, hearty, tasty and not drowned by sauce. The Cairngorm Hotel restaurant was busy on the two evenings we dined there last week but service was quite speedy. Some other establishments were comparatively quiet. The Cairngorm Hotel is my favourite restaurant in Aviemore at present.

Great place for a meal, it's walk in so relax and have a drink in the bar. However if you plan on staying here be prepared for a small room a queen sized bed with a view of a flat roof and noise from the bar below. We were unlucky to stay here when a quiz was on when all we wanted to do was get an early night but had to endure noise from speakers and people shouting for the whole evening. Also you can't easily get into the cupboard because there is a pointless desk in the way.

A warm welcome, good hearty food on a cold evening. Venison Steak was amazing, pink, juicy and full of flavour real restaurant quality and local meat too. Beef and Turkey by way of Roast of the day with the accompanying veg and variety of potatoes, roasted, boiled, mashed and a huge Yorkshire pudding, highly recommended. Good sized, well presented meals and all plates cleared. We will return to try some more of the extensive menu soon. Pub Quiz was fun too, we came 2nd!

The hotel was fine, was there for 2 nights. Not very busy, our room was as expected warm, clean and comfortable. Didn't eat there though as were meeting friends who live in the area but facilitates were good, bathroom with shower etc. Got pretty busy in bar but service was very quick and staff friendly. Would happily go back there.

I really enjoyed my 2 night stay here with my 2 children. The family room was just the perfect size for us 3. Only thing missing was a small fridge which would've been handy, but that didn't detract from the place at all. It just has this lovely Scottish charm and I can't wait to return for another stay in the near future. Breakfast was fab, and the lovely lady covering breakfast time kept my 5 year old happy, entertained and fed.even though what he wanted wasn't on the menu (a sausage bap!).
She went above and beyond and treated him like he was her own. Such a relaxed and friendly vibe to this place and such a great location. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. Qe ate dinner there on one night too and it was good hearty fayre. It kept us all happy, and very reasonably priced too. If you are thinking of a trip to the Highlands, this would be a great place to base yourself for a few nights.

Arrived mid afternoon asking to book a table later that night as it was a Saturday. Arrived at at 730 only to be told they were full and couldn't take anymore. There was no apology form front of house. Even if they had suggested a time to come but there was nothing. Very poor customer service. Avoid if you don't want to go hungry

I have now been here twice, both times for the buffet on a Thursday night. It starts at 6pm, and I would recommend getting there sharp, as it quickly fills up. When we were getting ready to leave, there was already a 30-40 minute wait for spare tables. The food is excellent, with soup to start, and then you can pick from what you want from the buffet. There's a good range of food, and it's definitely easy to fill your plate. Highly recommended for a Thursday night.

Best service we've had in the U.K. Fast, friendly, paying attention. Noticed things before we asked, and actually came back to check on us. Seated quickly and served quickly, even though the restaurant was busy. Only minor complaints were the glass of orange juice was maybe 3/4 full, and the rest half full of ice, and the flatware storage is in the dining room, so every time the staff sorts through it to reset a table (frequently) you can't hear your dining companion from a foot away. So glad we drove the 15 minutes to eat here. Great food (very tasty) and extensive menu too!

Very busy and atmospheric restaurant and bar. Good traditional Scottish fayre. No reservations taken so be prepared to wait for a table. We asked for the dining room as we were celebrating our dad's 80th bday while visiting for the w/e. To our great surprise a bagpiper walked into the dining room and made his way over as the waitresses brought out a cake. We were totally shocked. What a fabulous surprise. Worth a visit for sure.

A total surprise, we had tried a number of the places in Aviemore, the idea of going into a hotel for food was not on our radar but having little choice we tried our luck. Okay it was very traditional but I was more than impressed by the quality and value of the food. The menu was extensive compared to other places in the town. The food was excellent and I don't think I have ever had any better service. Definitely a must to visit.

Been here a few times now and always get a good feed. Go here if you want to experience old school Highlands. It's old fashioned and very tartan, with stag heads and suits of armour. Me and my friends were staying in aviemore so decided on going here for dinner. When we arrived there was a wedding going on, which was a bit strange as it is a small hotel so you kind of felt a little in the way of the wedding.
You can't book a table but the turn around is quick so you don't need to wait long. I picked the hot poached salmon and opted to pay about 4 more to get added king prawns. It came with broccoli and tatties. I was too full after for dessert. Good place for good Scottish food with a good Scottish feel.
