Lovely place, nice atmosphere and cozy interior. Friendly staff and good selection of beer. I didn't eat here but the menu was very compelling, and the plates I saw were well presented and the patrons seemed pleased. Will come back here for lunch soon

Part of a family group of 10 (4 under 4yrs old) came to sit outside for a couple of drinks as it was a lovely sunny day. Without warning a tour bus drives into the open patio area where we were sat, forcing us to move our 2 year old quickly off the chair as the bus swings into park. When we confronted the driver he was aggressive and said we should have moved (presumably in front of his bus as he parked because that's the only way we could go).

Not sure if this is a regular space for coaches but if so, why does the hotel put seating out there?! Unfortunately the manager was not on duty and the assistant manager offered a brief apology but I seriously hope the hotel deals with the driver and this particular tour company.

Stopped off for a very nice beer and glass of wine. Staff very polite and helpful. Stunned to be charged 10% service charge, for drinks I ordered and received at the bar. Be warned. Asked politely for the charge to be removed, which they must do. Really, this is not big city, it's a wee country hotel. Service charge should be voluntary.

We ate dinner here twice as a group of 7 with 2 dogs. We all ate different choices from the menu and everyone absolutely loved their meals. Generous portions, fresh delicious food, beautifully cooked. Would recommend 100%. The men especially recommend the haggis burger, one of our party said it was the best burger he'd ever eaten.

Attended a wedding here. The restaurant was fantastic with a wide range of choice. Staff were very helpful. Prices on a par with most restaurants. The wedding was well catered for with the staff going that extra mile help things run smoothly. Would highly recommend the stay or just eating at the restaurant.

We were looking for somewhere to eat, and called in to The Boat hoping that they could accommodate us without a booking. Because it was early evening, they were able to accommodate, and the food was delicious. We both had the parmesan crusted chicken schnitzel, which was obviously home made and a huge portion! It was a cold day, so the log fire was very welcoming. The restaurant did get a bit busy before we left, so I would recommend booking so as to avoid disappointment. Beer and wine also excellent!

We enjoyed our 2 night stay at The Boat in one of their dog friendly rooms (Garden Room 1) which is really handy having the grass for Luna to go out on. The room is nice, done to a decent enough standard. The food is good, I've knocked our score down a star as the service was a bit poor at times, albeit the staff were always friendly. The choice for vegans and vegetarians alike is poor unfortunately.

However the chef knocked up a tasty spicy cauliflower risotto when asked if there was anything else my partner could have. Don't know why they can't add this to the menu? Breakfast was tasty, but again not much on offer for vegans. Avocado on toast would be a bonus.

Great food great staff great service. Very busy tonight with too many people thinking they are the only customers in the place and moaning for very little reason. I'd love to see the quality of food and service these people get at home. The hospitality industry has gone through a huge disaster these last two years, cut them a bit of slack for goodness sake!

It had been a while since I'd eaten here so knew dinner was going to be fine enough but wasn't expecting it to be as nice an evening as we had. I'm not into Christmas really (there's far too much tat for my liking) but the decor here was festive and traditional and very pretty. The restaurant felt lovely as the lights were low, the music chilled and the tree twinkling in the corner. The burger was excellent and the service just as good. There was a mix up with my order but it was resolved without fuss.

We stopped in here today for lunch whilst out cycling. We sat outside as they had lots of tables available and there was a safe space to leave our bikes. The staff were very friendly and efficient, especially the young girl serving, food was very tasty and fresh. Thanks

Parmesan crusted chicken schnitzel was tasteless. Service was slow. Had to ask 5 members of staff about our dessert. None bothered to come back so had to ask the next passing one. Our waitress replied we are busy. she was hushed away by another. My boys 10th birthday was minus his dessert. We left with out our 7.25 apple crumble ordered with the main meal.

Great cosy hotel. Family friendly with super friendly staff. Service was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our food and alcoholic drinks by the patio heaters outside. We had a garden room with lovely scenery. Was a great location for exploring Aviemore and surrounding areas. Will definitely be back.

Oct 2020 was my first visit to the hotel which was recommended by friends. We were two adults and one 5 year old. I have to say that I am extremely impressed with the hotel and staff. All the staff are all. very friendly and attentive without being invasive and nothing is too much trouble. Rooms were fresh and very clean with all modern amenities but remaining in the style of the hotel which was nice. Beds were firm but comfortable.

Food was very good and I tried both from the set menu and a la carte menu. Breakfast offered a good selection and table service was swift. Drinks selection was reasonably priced with a hood selection. The local lager on offer was very good. Breakout areas.

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights this week with breakfast included. We got upgraded to a deluxe room which was a good size and had a lovely view of the railway. Bed was really comfortable and the bath. was enormous. Staff were all happy to help at all times with table service for breakfast and all drinks. We found Alex went above and beyond to always ensure we were taken care off - he is really friendly and great at his job! Antonia was also very attentive.

We ate dinner in the hotel last night and food was lovely - especially the chilli nachos! Would definitely recommend and would stay again. Thank you for a very pleasant break

I recently booked at stay for 2 nights, a prepaid, non-refundable rate, and was emailed a few hours later by the management telling me that the rate that I had booked was no longer available, and that I had to book a special package that was more than 2x the cost of my original booking for the same room! My original booking already wasn't cheap, . around 240 GBP - but they wanted me to rebook for something like 480 GBP for the SAME ROOM on the SAME DATES.

The cancellation policy was very clear, and had I tried to cancel, I would have lost 100% of my money. But apparently the management does not hold themselves to the same standards, or any standards, when dealing with customers. They didn't offer me any kind of recompense or discount or any other option, just pay the ridiculously high rate or you can't stay here. They clearly do not care about their guests or doing the right thing

Quick update, found an Italian-styled (I know right) patio shortly after. Absolutely packed by Boat Hotel standards. Guess what? They served us.

Myself, my wife and my dog had a great stay here on the 2016 May Day holiday weekend. We picked up an incredible deal from a voucher website, however it's worth knowing that they do run these offers directly themselves so I would suggestion going directly to try and give them a little more money into their own pockets. All of the staff (most of them from the rest of Europe which I slightly odd in the Highlands!) were very friendly and they all made a fuss of Luna.

The food we had was very nice. The starter portions were a little small, but when you saw the size of the mains it all made sense as a bigger starter would mean not being able to finish your three courses! They have a real ale available which is usually Trade Winds from the local Cairngorm Brewery. However it is expensive at 4.70 a pint, but well-kept and flavoursome. If you are lucky like we were you might also get a view from your room to the adjacent Strathspey Steam Railway - excellent for train enthusiasts!

The Boat Hotel is a very nice hotel. It's just that simple. Yes it has it's flaws but this is an old building. All the floors creak, all the heavy doors bang but in my opinion that's all part of the experience. We stayed DBB (3 course set menu) and we spent most nights eating in the hotel. The food was great, they done a very nice fish and chips, and the leek and potato soup was great.

On the Saturday morning we had breakfast in the room (5 tray charge) which arrived on time and was very nice. We love a good coffee and the standard coffee served with breakfast was full of flavour. We stayed 3 nights, checking in on Friday afternoon. We arrived before the 3 o'clock check-in time but the room was ready and we were able to get settled right in.

We were in a simple classic room but it had a nice enough view. The bathroom window faced a wall that was literally a foot away, which was weird but really that made no difference. They had a nice blind covering it up. The room was very nice but nothing to go crazy about. The hotel is pet-friendly and we left our two dogs behind for this trip. We could see the garden rooms from our window and our dogs would love it here.

So we will definitely return with them in the future. I just hope the rooms will be suitable for our two big German Shepherds! Also if you're city folk (like us) who are used to phone signal and high speed internet this is not the place for you. We got phone signal most of the time but we could not access data services on our phones. I done a speedtest on the wifi and it got 1.8Mbps download speed and around.26Mbps upload speed. No doubt this is the standard around the area and not a reflection on the hotel directly. Overall we had a great weekend and will definitely come back with the dogs.
