We had our dinner in the restaurant, after a long day's hiking on the peaks nearby. Definitely the best dinner we had in the Lake District this time. The burger bread was a bit crispy and the meat had a unique fragrance. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Close to the bus stop to Keswick.

Absolutely fantastic after a long afternoon motorcycling me and my partner stopped here for some dinner and without a doubt some of the best steak I have ever had after 15yrs of catering, dinning at Michelin star restaurants this has any of them beat hands down! Perfectly cooked and you can taste the freshness just incredible with locally sourced produce as well.
Staff were absolutely brilliant with all our requests meet and within better than average time. Now the bit we all wanna know the cost! tbh with the quality setting and service it is extremely fair if not below average for the quality so glad we stubbeled across this amazing establishment with deep local history of over 200yrs looking forward to going back. To finish everything off they are dog friendly and even have a couple of meals for the furry canines which melted my heart that they thought to do that 10/10.

What a great pub! Staff and service was excellent, very friendly, informative and attentive. Great selection of beer and the food was so good! Best Sunday dinner I've had in a very long time! Dog friendly, lovely outdoor seating area (the sun was shining bright). Truly the perfect Lakeland pub for walkers and bikers. Will definitely be going back to Buttermere

To be honest I don't like their new system of waiting to be seated and ordering from your table using a block of wood painted red and green to signify if you are ready to order, this is supposed to be a public bar and the pandemic is over! I will not visit again while they have this system! I even got told off for going to the bar to check the beer selection and got told rather curtly "all beers are described on the menu"! Doesn't matter if they have good beers and a great location, I'd rather go somewhere else and I have been visiting this place for over 40 years!

What an excellent little gem we stumbled across! We were travelling along the pass and stopped off for an evening meal. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The place was atmospheric. The food was home-cooked, plentiful and delicious. The prices were good too! Do yourself a favour - if you are in the area, stop off for food. You won't be disappointed
