Booked a deluxe room really! Joke how do you justify a bare bedroom with basic furniture pillows like rocks Dining area drab no presentation given to tables or food dry tasteless Arrived 20 minutes earlier than checking in time abrupt staff told your too early rather than politely say please have a seat in the lounge breakfast basic no one wishes to say good morning seemingly Never again worst hotel needs a good shake up D

I would recommend The Tontine Hotel in Greenock to everyone It's bright, well cared for and welcoming. The staff are all very friendly and the food is great. We have used The Tontine for many years for wedding, christenings and special birthdays also just casual meals. I have never had any reason to complain. It's a great asset to the area.

We had a fantastic a 3-night stay at The Tontine. Shoana and her staff were excellent, very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. We had a great selection of different food for breakfast and enjoyed some really lovely cocktails on the Monday evening in 1808 bar. Would highly recommend The Tontine.

The second time my partner and I have staid here and we took her parents this time as well. Rooms were excellent as usual and the staff were all amazing again. Food was also wonderful. Only gripe we had was that my partner's father can only walk a bit on his crutches and they do have an entrance for the lower rooms in which they stayed but we were not told about the call system on the wall to let them in through the door. Apart from that we all really enjoyed and will be returning again!

As Andrew M. Had mentioned. I can see this placing being somewhat of an icon back in the day, but no more. Renovations are required, but considering the no so favorable trip across the pond, I found the bed comfortable and staff friendly. The staircase provides a glimpse of what was, but now the walls are cracked, the ceilings are stained and the floors slope like some of the difficult golf course greens I have putted on over the years. Still it is comfortable and moderately priced. No major bells and whistles here. I'll update my thoughts in a couple of days.

A beautiful hotel in the west end of Greenock and one where I used to eat on special occasions with my family years ago. It was always one of the best places to stay in the area. (I've never stayed there myself, but some family members have.) In recent years I've only had a bar meal, not eaten in the restaurant (there was only one vegetarian choice on the menu in there and it's a very expensive place to eat).
The bar meal was very ordinary, in contrast, and reasonably priced. There should be more veggie choices though. The people were friendly and it was good to visit this lovely old hotel again.
