The lady behind the front desk and the barman were both lovely as was the night manager. The hotel itself was ok, clean and functional. Probably better suited to people on business trips than those looking for a weekend away.

Beautiful building, superb service. We have visited many times over the years, with family for dinner, afternoon tea, & also for private functions inc my dad's wake. On Sunday we visited for afternoon tea with our elderly mum who was in a wheelchair. The staff were so attentive & the service was impeccable. We had afternoon tea & we were looked after so we.

The staff were caring & empathetic as my mum is quite poorly. This is a beautiful hotel for any event, the staff are brilliant. We noticed they were showing people round for a potential wedding venue & we would highly recommend it as you will be looked after very well in traditional setting. A MASSIVE THANK YOU to your staff who served us in front of the fireplace on sunday. The lady who took care of us is an asset to your hotel.

Comfortable and friendly hotel. The bed very comfortable. Nice bathroom. Music a little loud at breakfast and fresh coffee would have been nice. Overall though I would recommend this place.fairly quiet location and perfect for a couple of nights.

I had my wedding here on 23rd October 2021, and can honestly say I have NEVER seen a better organised wedding or staff. The food was amazing. The service was outstanding. The attention to detail was superb. Most people see this hotel as a corporate one, but those people couldn't be more wrong. If you want a Hotel that will give you everything that you could possibly want for a wedding then Izzy and her crew are the ones to go to. Moving onto the rooms, as I know not everyone will go there for a wedding.

The rooms are more than fine for the price, I do hope that an update will be in the pipe-works soon though as some are a bit tired. But they are clean and comfy, which to be fair is all you need. The bedding is also very nice, soft and clean. Lovely toiletries as well. The breakfast in the morning was also amazing. A very good spread of hot and cold. The sausages are lush. The juices on offer were also nice and chilled. Tea and Coffee pots can come to the table as well. brilliant hidden gem this place.

Our stay at the Birch Hotel on the 13th and 14th of November in room 9 was disappointing. The bed was big and comfortable, and while I fully accept that this is a 3 star hotel I believe their were are some areas overlooked. -We found the last rooms visitors left over complimentary body wash in the shower. -A faulty bed side light switch. ( is this safe?). -The toilet seat was loose. -There was only one plug to use either in bath or basin. -The bathroom radiator not working. -On returning to our room on the second day late in the evening our tea/ coffee tray had not been replenished, so we had no clean cups or milk, the rubbish had not been removed and our towels were damp.

There appeared to be no staff on duty, to supply these. Now. the breakfast, on Monday, which is advertised at 7am to 9am on the in room information, and on their menu ( which is also on the website) actually only starts at 8am. ( difficulty for those who want to leave early) In addition there was no buffet as described on the menu, no juice, fruit, cereal, toast, butter jam etc.

My husband really enjoyed his breakfast and my poached eggs were lovely, but the bacon was overdone and hard ( both Sunday breakfast and Monday) It was hard to contact anyone via the phone the call going to a mobile voice mail, on Monday. Finally, I would like to commend the employee on Monday morning who dealt politely and as efficiently as possible with my irritation at our start being delayed. I would recommend this hotel to a friend with this information and let them decide if it was worth the room rate.

Lovely independent (small Group) hotel. Superb customer service across all departments with friendly and informative staff. Excellent meals (bistro bar/evening and restaurant/breakfast.) Breakfast quality and choice superb: well worth including in room price. Room tidy, clean, light and airy (Contemporary annex/wing). Everything worked well, inc. TV, comfy bed (with protector), shower, extractor, kettle etc.

Good supply of complementary room items. Niggles? None bar slight crack in WC and booking photos of hotel don't show the new annex/wing, only the architecturally more interesting older buildings. Would stay again.

We stayed at the Birch for 6 nights whilst we were at the Royal International Horse Show. I was impressed by the service I received prior to arrival and during our stay from all the staff. The room was clean and comfortable and the food lovely. We took out 3 month old puppy and Barney was looked after so well by everyone especially Lucy. We will be looking forward to staying her again when at the show next year.
