The Beetle and Wedge Boathouse is tucked away, and perfectly positioned on the most stunning part of the River Thames. The setting is like no other riverside venue which means you can switch off, unwind, and enjoy your precious time with us. The Beetle has played a huge part in many lives over the years and is steeped in literature history, from the Wind in the Willows, to Three Men in a Boat and not forgetting HG Well's Mr Polly it has truly fascinated all that have discovered its true beauty. Our owner, Ben, has ensured that its character and charm has remained while adding his own magical touch.
Services
Here, at The Beetle we could not agree more. Bens passion for delicious food, is shared by his extremely talented Head Chef, Josh. The menu that they have worked so hard on creating is simply mouthwatering. From the Pan-fried Scallops in a Cauliflower Puree to the Confit Pork Belly there is something for everyone.
Whatever the occasion may be, we have created the perfect retreat for anyone looking to treat themselves to a few nights away. The cottage has recently been renovated, creating a relaxing, and comfortable environment. Each suite has been given its own style by carefully selecting colors to complement its quaint setting while giving our guests an attractive but slightly quirky place to stay. The cottage has two ground floor bedrooms with private shower rooms that are dog friendly and two first floor bedrooms that have private bathrooms.

Lovely location overlooking the Thames. Great outdoor seating area for warm days and smart uncomplicated but classy dining room inside. Friendly attentive service. Good menu of traditional classics - Homemade pie for me, Mrs B had the grilled bream. Not cheap - 60 for two mains plus drinks. But done very well and worth that little bit more for the location, service and overall quality

Very popular Thames-side gastro-pub (?). Not the original Beetle and Wedge, my Dad tells me, which is now a house, but the converted boat sheds. We ate in the bar area, which is v atmospheric and has a good vibe. You can bring dogs in this area as it has flagstones. Up some steps you enter the main, very light restaurant area in a conservatory style.
There are serviced tables outside too, with parasols right in the water. Boats can moor here too, if you can find a space! There's parking for The Beetle and Wedge too, which almost seems just about enough to accommodate need - when we've visited, anyway! The menu is very diverse, creative and delicious, including Sunday roasts, which our party of 5 had! With wine and 3 courses, the bill came to 265, including 10% voluntary tip. Highly recommend!

I actually visited about a year ago and again last week. Last week we just had a drink by the river which was lovely! However previously we had the food and I have to say I'd never have the food again, its very strange as the menu looks very cheffy and like it's written by someone who knows food, but the execution was poor and we had 2 different starters and 2 different mains and not a single decent dish amongst them. Staff are friendly and helpful though! We will be back for drinks for sure as you'd be hard pressed to find a more gorgeous spot for a drink.
