A stunning country house hotel. The grounds are amazing with various walks along the river and through the trees. The dinner was outstanding, staff were very helpful and were discreet but available. Breakfast was also delicious with hot and cold buffet options available. There is a bar and lounge/drawing room where you can have drinks as well as the large dining room with views across the lawns to the river.
There are a large number is established trees in the grounds which adds to the atmosphere. If you want a quiet room with views of the river choose the Riverside rooms in a separate building a couple of minutes walk along from the main hotel. Each room has an outside seating area either on a little patio or balcony. Perfect for enjoying the view. Will definitely visit again!

Just home from a fabulous night at Ballathie house. Such a stunning location, we had a nice big room, with a view over the river and so relaxing. Dinner was excellent, nice wine in the bar served by Michael, who along with the rest of the staff cannot do enough for you. A full Scottish breakfast to send us on our way. We will be back.

We had our wedding at Ballathie on 18th December. The hotel did a brilliant job throughout and were thorough to the finest detail. Our party stayed on the 17th as well and the team really helped make it a brilliant weekend. The food was outstanding and the service was top class. Jalal ran our wedding and was particularly supportive all weekend. Thank you! Laura and David Black

Beautiful hotel and restaurant in an even more beautiful setting. Staff were excellent - attentive without being intrusive, accommodating, helpful, and friendly. I was here for a private function and the food was excellent, especially the cheese board. When my taxi was early they happily provided the driver with a coffee while he waited. Even better - they're dog friendly. Will be coming back to stay in the hotel as I can't imagine a more perfect, quiet spot to see the best of Scotland's countryside

The staff, attentive, courteous and friendly. Food, breakfast, could have been hotter, however; due to it being a buffet style, that is not possible. Great food though. The room however; was disappointing. It was very tired and the window frames were very dirty, mouldy and needed repairing and repainting. Photos available. Would come again, however; it just needs some investment in updating and restyling. Thank you products

The hotel and rooms are nice. The bathrooms are big. We appreciated the customer service which was good. Our issues were the large amount of wasps in our room. I believe there's a nest somewhere, and as it was a very warm humid night we had our window open. When it rained we had about 7 wasps enter the room and fly about. Within our group, all the other rooms also had wasps.
There was no air-conditioning or fan in the rooms and we were very hot. The TV is not on the wall across from the bed, so you can't see it. There are very few plug sockets due to the older nature of the building. Their toiletries are amazing and the shower was excellent. The room was very clean and we felt very welcome.

Beautiful hotel in an idyllic setting. The riverside suite was very comfortable and clean, with excellent facilities. Food in the hotel was superb, the 5 course evening meal was Michelin star quality. The Staff are very polite, attentive and helpful. We had a fantastic stay and will definitely return.

The surrounding scenery of this Hotel was absolutely beautiful. The main entrance is as a small castle blended in natural nature. Some of the rooms have direct access to the local river. Although being a 4 star hotel, the services were way higher than that. We had guest's from America and out of all the hotels we stayed for our 10 days trip. This was the absolute favourite one.

The grounds are pretty, and the non-british members of staff are wonderful. But that's all the good there is to say. When you enter, look to the right and notice a wall of awards that suddenly, and tellingly, stop about 10 years ago. The place is in massive need of a renovation. The decor is dated, the hotel's heating is completely broken, windows are covered in mould.
The receptionist is stuck up, uncommunicative, and randomly goes missing for chunks of time; but only when she isn't messing around on the Internet ignoring customers. Emails to the hotel go unanswered for weeks. There's another woman who's job is to sit upstairs in a cleaning cupboard and browse the Internet all day too. Which I only mention because I would also like to be paid to do nothing all day and sneer at people. In conclusion. Don't bother. Visit the grounds, have a walk by the river, but don't fork up 100 a night for it.
