Aviator Hotel The Aviator Hotel, Northampton, is a unique Art Deco styled Hotel, Bar, Restaurant and Event facility overlooking the bustling airfield of Sywell Aerodrome. The Aviator is located just outside of the village of Sywell in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside.

Formerly the original Pilot's Clubhouse and Officer's Mess during the Second World War, the Aviator has been extensively renovated in recent years to its former Art Deco glory, whilst retaining much of its rich Aviation history. The Aviator and its hotel offer a relaxed atmosphere, delicious food and a variety of drinks options, as well as events facilities than can accommodate from 5 to 500 guests.
Services
Located on a privately owned aerodrome, this unique 3-star hotel is set in a 1930s building and offers a bar, restaurant, free Wi-Fi and free parking. The bar has an extensive selection of real ales and other drinks as well as snacks and the restaurant offers an a la carte menu; guests can sit at the terrace or in the garden during warmer months.
Here at The Aviator we are proud to use locally sourced ingredients from our local suppliers. Our food is freshly prepared by our kitchen team who take great pride in providing good quality food. Our menus change to make use of seasonal produce and we also offer daily specials for something a bit different.
The Aviator bar is stocked with an extensive range of real ales, lagers, spirits and soft drinks. We hold a large collection of Malt Whiskeys and over fifty Gins which we pair with Fever Tree tonics. Our Wine List has been carefully selected from our small local supplier and offers a great mix of Old and New World wines.
If you are looking to hold an event with us in one of our private rooms we also offer the option to have Afternoon Tea instead of the more traditional buffet. You are welcome to sit in our Restaurant, or alternatively you can choose to sit on our garden terrace overlooking the Airfield with the chance of watching some aircraft taking off and landing, or you may even catch an air display.

This is one of my favourite places. Great food, lovely setting and always something going on. Love it. Highly recommended

So start with the positive. A great quirky art deco building with wonderful views and atmosphere. Not so good is the dated rooms with the worlds smallest TVs and frankly pathetic wfi. As was the lack of parking. The staff as well could do with some refresher training especially relating to their guests. One example being I had to forgo breakfast as my order was not taken for 15 mins. Also the evening meal menu was sparse and disappointing. I would stay again as my grumbles might not be the norm and as I said the building it's self is worth a visit.

Only called in for coffee and the period decor is fantastic plenty to do and see as the hotel Is on an airfield with a museum. Had the honour of seeing a spitfire taking off. Fabulous.

Always good for a summer afternoon on the lawns watching the Blades aerobatic team practicing or the Spitfire flying. especially with light refreshments on hand!

Room was clean, fresh and well appointed but that was about it. In the evening the bar was dead, no background music, certain bar staff had attitude problems. There was no atmosphere, we were alone in the bar in the evenings. All fine in the daytime with various aircraft fling around but when that is over it is miserable. Breakfast was very good but the dinner menu was not of hotel standard.

Used pubs locally for dinner. Relies on the aircraft rather than the hotel. Would not recommend anyone to stay there. A nice Art Deco style building but lacking in the things required of a hotel.

Great hotel and location. Only issue was with lack of evening food due to no chef. Also lack of evening ambience in the bar social area; in my opinion it could have done with some low background music of the era.

We stayed here over night to attend an event on the airfield the following day. The hotel reception, bar and dining facilities are in a separate building with the bedrooms across the carpark. Our room was large and reasonably well decorated - if slightly dated. The bathroom was large with a bath and overhead shower in it. There was tea and coffee making facilities, a small TV and adequate wardroom space with hangers.

The hotel facilities were very nice - the bar and other facilities are decorated in a art deco style - in keeping with the building which looks over the airfield. Unfortunately there was no dining facilities on offer as they are having trouble getting catering staff. We were made aware of this before our arrival and offered the opportunity to cancel should we wish.

We dined out for evening meal at a local pub (The Horseshoe) which was very nice and about half a mile down the road. Breakfast was in the local garden centre - also about half a mile away in the opposite direction. We spent our evening in the bar, which was well stocked and staffed, if a little quiet - prices were reasonable. All in all I would visit again if we attended another event at the airfield.

Perfect place to indulge a passion for the past. The hotel & bar/restaurant still in original art deco order. A visit to the on site Sywell Air museum highly recommended.

This place is amazing! We went for lunch and it was very hearty. Couldn't manage to eat it all. The food was tasty and fresh and the service excellent. The atmosphere is wonderful because you can see the planes, micolights and helicopters landing and taking off. Would definitely recommend this place.
