We've just returned from a wonderful night away, the room was nice with an ensuite.the shower was very hot which was lovely! The hotel had a bar area, resturant and a quiet lounge, the outside seating area is perfect and a sun trap. The breakfast was a banquet with all you can eat including a full English (help yourself) cereals, fresh fruit and croissants. The staff were lovely (especially Helen) who made our stay so wonderful. We didn't get time to use the pool but will when we return.

Such a friendly team. So impressed with the happy crew who helped wherever they could. Lovely Cotton bed linen. Stayed in a Family room N0 70. Bath a good size, all very clean. Breakfast a feast. A few issues re 1st room shown, as It had odour problems (damp?) - Very swiftly put us in another room. Also a Prankster putting a coat-hanger in the lift to stop it on Saturday night?
The night porter ran up and found it. I have Mobility issues so the stairs are not possible. Then same tactic in the morning, coat hanger on the ground floor, preventing the lift. I believe it was an inconsiderate guest, who did not think about people who are disabled. Good location, good Pizza night. The lasting memory is how warm the staff and Owners Mark and Naomi are. - Highly recommend.

Went with GB Coach Tours to the Anchorage Hotel and what a lovely hotel to stay in. We stayed in room 30 on the ground floor. Big enough for the 2 of us. Well supplied with Tea Coffee and Biscuits. The Hotel isn't one of the biggest that we've stayed in but that made it all the better. The staff were friendly and very helpful, something you don't usually get with the bigger hotels.
Outside is a small Coffee Tea Ice Cream Hub where you can sit in the sun or if it's cloudy blankets are provided. Entertainment is provided most evenings. There's also a Park opposite for the littlies or not so littlies. Yes the hotel is in need of a little TLC but it was very clean the staff were very friendly and helpful and for us that goes a long way.

Exceptional, very friendly staff, clean and inviting hotel - love the coffee and ice cream shack! Pizza menu, lovely outdoor seating, an outdoor heated pool (in season) and a playground right across the road, all within a beautiful and quiet tucked-away area of Babbacombe (one of the nicer parts of Torquay) - perfect for families. Great value for money. Very much recommend.

We had a lovely, chilled night here. The staff were all exceptional! The room and ensuite could do with a bit of tweaking and our evening snacks/ nibbles we're very disappointing for the price, however the service, location and ambience more than made up for it! Everyone loved our dog and there were treats available. The buffet breakfast was good but missing a few items such as croissants ( apparently awaiting delivery ), Danish pastries and black pudding and mushrooms in our opinion. Barring these niggles we wouldn't hesitate to go back.

We got a great cheap 5 day coach deal and for what we paid it was a great deal. However I would not have been so happy if I had paid the normal price expected for a room. The breakfast was good although the coffee machine was waiting for a digital chip so broke down every other customer and a couple of customers found mould on the bread on the last morning.
The only on tap lager broke on the first night and for the rest of the week we were waiting for an engineer to turn up and were given a lower value canned beer for the same price which was a bit cheeky. the evening meal I hope was concocted due to the price we paid as it was less than impressive. It was edible but nothing brilliant. Soup was tasteless and cold, main course was ok but there were complaints every night and as I said if we had paid full price I would have demanded my money back.
The rice to go with the Thai green curry was not drained properly so made it very sloppy and we were only there five days and had this and pork twice. Sad as the hotel does give an air of trying hard in some areas but is quite lacking in others. Would not use again myself unless on another cheap deal.

Fawlty Towers really does exist in Torquay, or at least very close by. We were allocated on of what is supposed to be one of their better rooms however the loo was blocked, no remote for the TV (which apparently grey were aware of but just didn't tell us!), tea making g facilities were provided but no milk for the tea, no glasses for water. The room was newly decorated which was evident by the grout all over the new tiles in the bathroom and paint on the TV. Saturday evening entertainment seemed make for quality with volume.
Couldn't be bothered with what looked like a pretty poor cooked buffet breakfast so opted for a couple.e of croissant. Didn't actually manage to eat one as they were of the lowest quality with the cheapest tasteless greasy butter and flavourless strawberry jam. Needless to say I won't be returning and neither anybody else in our group that stayed

I added a note that it was our minimoon and that we had two dogs and not that we expect any amazing extras but we at least expected better. The toilet was leaking (which by the time we realised was too late in the day to change with the dogs) and the room they gave us wasn't adequate for dogs. The room we were given was behind reception so we had the noise from there as well as everyone had to walk passed our door as we were the first room so our dogs spent the whole night barking.
We have been in hotel rooms before and been fine with them but the walls were so thin you could hear everything. The guy on reception did not ask us if our stay was okay but asked couples in front of us. I know that places do have their bad days and maybe this was it? I am the person that loves to leave a good review but I'm afraid I did not enjoy my stay and this had to be communicated.

The rooms were fine clean and with good beds with soft linen. The breakfast buffy was absolutely first class. Coffee, eggs, bacon, grapefruit serial and much more, all piping hot or cold as required. Loads of it and you can eat till you are stuffed! The staff were polite and seemed genuinely pleased to see you. They seem to cater for coach trips. There is a nice proper dance floor with a bar and good quality local entertainers most nights.
It is set in its own illuminated grounds with a good size car park. It also has its own small not deep heated swimming pool within the garden that is excellent for active children. If I was being a little picky, but only because of my facilities management expertise. They need to employ a handyman or have a little revamp in the off season on general decorations due to high usage wear and tear. Please do not let this put you off using this hotel as i would not hesitate to return. Overall excellent!
