The 19 luxurious guest rooms offer comfort and style, the interior design reflects the history of the castle and rooms are furnished with antiques and fine fabrics alongside contemporary features. At the heart of the hotel is the magnificent Queen's Room restaurant, with a barrel-vaulted ceiling dating back to the 12th century.

We had an intimate wedding here last week and the whole day was like a fairytale. The staff were very attentive, everything was exceptional. It was the best day of our lives and I cannot think of a more romantic setting to get married in. Every member of staff paid attention to all of our guests and they were all so kind and thoughtful making us feel so special. We will definitely be back.

We visited Amberley castle for afternoon tea for our 10th anniversary. It is a gorgeous, 1000 year old, small castle. The afternoon tea was excellent, a good variety of savouries and cakes, finished with the classic cream tea, by which time we were quite full and glad the scones were bite sized. We got through 3 pots of tea. The service was perfect, nothing was too much trouble and the environment was historic and lovely. A wander around the grounds afterwards was enjoyable too. Highly recommended.

Came here for the afternoon tea. The staff were very friendly and polite on arrival. Lots of choice for the afternoon tea (cheese and ham toastiest, sausage rolls, scones, selection of cakes and sandwiches) + tea or coffee included for 48pp. Service for the drinks quite slow but all in all an enjoyable experience.

Excellent, stayed overnight for wedding anniversary. The service and food was amazing. Such lovely friendly welcoming staff. Our room was upgraded, beautiful flowers were delivered to our room. Wonderful walk around the gardens and in the village of Amberley. Thank you so much we will visit again. What an amazing team.

Totally amazing hotel. Luxurious comfort inside an old castle. Open fire in each of the reception rooms. A lovely place to chat before & after your meal. Bedroom was a good size and comfortable. Mattress was a little soft for my liking but you can't suit everyone. The shower head was too low for my 6'4 husband to fit underneath. But on the room overall was very good.
The staff were lovely and could not have done enough to make us feel welcome. Breakfast, eggs Benedict, was delicious. Very, very good. I'd love to go back. Very romantic place.

This was our first time staying at Amberley Castle. From the time of our arrival to our departure after 2 days, the staff were truly excellent. Our room (Hastings) was exceptional, with an enourmous bathroom. As part of a party of 8 guests, everyone in our party had nothing but high praise for the staff and the lovely surroundings and ambience of Amberley Castle. We will be looking to try the other hotels in this exceptional chain. Outstanding.

I would actually like to give 7/10 as this is a little more generous. For anyone reading this review it is important that it is understood that afternoon tea is one of my favourite things to do and as such I can be a little picky and even I acknowledge some of my points are. However, here goes, here is my honest opinion of Amberley Castle afternoon tea.
This was a good afternoon tea but it could be better with a few small changes. The location is absolutely idilic and I think this would be a lovely place to stay for a short break. It was a shame that the room afternoon tea was served in didn't make use of the stunning views however, it was a nice room. You could offer the option of downstairs by the fire which would have been lovely.
The staff on arrival were absolute lovely and chatty and made us feel very welcome whilst showing us to our table. We were quite early which caused no problems at all. The chap (no name badges unfortunately) who appeared to be the head waiter (blond hair) was excellent and, when we saw him was very attentive. Our main waiter was OK but the service of the teas (especially replenishing was very slow - at least 15 mins and we had to prompt on both occasions).
There was only two other tables dining so no real excuse for this. Only one strainer per table (sounds picky) but when one of you takes milk and the other doesn't this isn't idea! Equally the taste of the tea was altered because it was straining through a different blend. The afternoon tea itself - quiche was delicious as was the sausage roll (not usually a fan so hat's off on that one).
Really disappointed to be told that another small quiche was not possible because they only order in the exact number according to bookings. I can sort of appreciate this but when afternoon tea is 45 you would expect to be able to ask for the odd seconds of something. The cakes / scones were absolutely lovely however, the sandwiches were quite disappointing and a little dry.
I would however take the cakes of the wholesale gold cardboard as it really gives the game away that these are bought on mass and defrosted. Hot chocolate was really sweet. If you are fine hot chocolate fan and enjoy a strong drink this would not be for you. Final comment is having a cleaner with a Henry hoover doing the stairs really takes away from the ambiance of a high end afternoon tea (again I appreciate that these are picky points but you are charging pretty steep prices). If the afternoon tea here was 30 per person I would return in a shot but at 45 you would need to make a few changes to warrant charging this amount.

We had a wonderful time at Amberley Castle today enjoying a champagne afternoon tea which was a present from our son. All the staff from reception to table service were welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious and the unlimited beverages was an added bonus. Can highly recommended this experience.

This is an incredible place; an old ruined castle transformed into a beautiful hotel, restaurant and garden. Great place to visit and take some nice photos. We stayed a night there, and I must say that, for the very high price we payed for a night's stay, I was expecting a bit more. Don't get me wrong: the room was great, comfortable and very much a 'castle-style' room.
But why a minimum stay of two nights? Is that because it's too much work to make-up a 400 room? The breakfast we had was lovely - some incredibly well done poached eggs. And the restaurant itself is beautifully done. But then, in a top class restaurant such as this, I don't expect you to work with runners. I expect the waiter does just that bit more than taking your order.
And when ready, the same waiter serves the food and knows of course, who ordered what. And when you ask for a coffee, to have outside, I expect something like this not to be forgotten. The coffee was great by the way. Again, truly a lovely, well maintained place, with loads of character and style. And some good, well prepared food. I just missed the finesse I expect with high-class place line this.

What an absolute pleasure it was to visit Amberley Castle with my parents yesterday. The castle is steeped with history, and not only looks stunning but it set in the beautiful South Downs, which for us is an added bonus. The gardens are beautifully manicured and walking around the grounds was deeply relaxing. We came to have the full afternoon tea and it was not only delicious, but we really appreciated the unique touches, such as the pastries and all the selection of teas and coffees.
It's clear that everything is homemade and the attention to detail down to the cutlery was wonderful. Dining in the old hall makes you feel like you're a part of a time from long ago, which was a unique experience for us. This is the best afternoon tea we've had by far. The staff are friendly, professional and looked after us very well. Highly recommend a visit to Amberley Castle it is a real hidden gem and you will simply be transported back through time.
