Highly disappointed in the staff. We were trying to enjoy a meal on our last night on vacation, seated in the dining room with one other diner. Both our table and the other diner asked for the music (which was very inappropriate and loud in an otherwise nice space) to be turned down. One staff member would come turn the small stereo back up over and over. Finally, after this happened multiple times, the other diner turned the dial slightly.
The staff member verbally attacked him and then claimed that she felt intimidated by him, both of which were incredibly inappropriate. By the time she was down verbally attacking him, he was practically in tears. My mother was so upset she left the table to complain about the server's incredibly unprofessional and inappropriate behavior and the way that it interrupted our dinner, and was berated by the young man at the desk.
One staff member apologized for him to her as she walked away, but then he came and interrupted our evening drinks under the pretense of an apology, without actually apologizing. I instantly understood why my usually calm and sweet mother was so upset - he argued with her in front of all of us. Clearly there are significant management issues at Mar Hall, which truly ruins an otherwise lovely setting.
I will never be back and am very disappointed in how my family, who I had brought to see the area, were treated. The behavior I witnessed by staff is not acceptable, was totally unprovoked, and I can only hope that others will not experienced what our party and the other party experienced.

Unfortunately I have say that I had a very disappointing meal in the bar. The main restaurant was closed because of a wedding. The starter prawn cocktail was not prawns, it was very small shrimps, obviously from frozen, very tough. The burger was quite the worst burger I have ever had. Pressed meat with no flavour. Previous visit I had the best steak I've ever had. But this visit was not 5 star. They need to up their game in the bar menu. Very disappointing.

Attended a wedding and it was great, maybe drinks were a wee bit pricey but i guess that is to be expected in such a wonderful place. The staff were great and very attentive. I have to say also that the food was excellent and the people who served it were fantastic. Yes i will definitely be going back there in the future as i had a great time.

Dream Wedding Venue! I attended a family wedding at this wonderful hotel. Not only is the location very convenient, the surrounding country stunning and the buildings simply beautiful, but the staff do everything they can to make you feel special from the first moment. A wonderful place to visit for a wedding, or for a luxurious stay. Beautiful

Got married here in March 2022. I don't really know where to start, so let us just begin with the venue itself. I mean, anyone who has been to Mar Hall understands the physical beaty of it. it looks like a dream. The magical thing is it also feels like a dream. On the day it felt like it was all mine, and we really lived in a fairy-tale for a day - and who would not like that for their wedding day?
And then, we have the wonderful coordinator Neringa Lisajute, who helped us create and perform the perfect day we had. During one meeting leading up to the wedding she said that she worked so much because she seriously loves her job - and there is no doubt about it. Her skills and knowledge and 'no problem - attitude' made us completely relax and not having to worry about a single thing.
And of course, we have the rest hard-working staff in Mar Hall. Treating their guests in the way its expected at a resort like this, with a 5-star service from first contact until the last. So, to summaries, venue beautifully perfect, staff outstanding, coordination brilliant, and I cannot end this without mention the food that was on point and delicious.

Beautiful example of an eclectic Manor. Jam packed and oozing luxury, this hotel is nothing short of class. Ideal if you are looking for a romantic get away, the grounds offering an isolation feel and the illusion of being completely alone in a brilliant way. The rooms however do need alittle TLC that was made aware to Mar Hall and was immediately addressed. I will be returning very soon.

Stayed here with my wife as part of a midweek package deal. From entry until exit staff were first class and very accomodating no hidden costs either. Food and drinks no complaint's compliment's to the chef. Room we had was a deluxe? room on the ground floor room 24 to be precise. Room itself was spacious and had all standard hotel room requirment's.
Other than being a bit dusty and a couple of cobweb's I have no complaint's with that. Missed the opportunity to sample the SPA and pool given the closing time after arrival. Will go back at some point. Thank you Mar Hall.

Really disappointing spa experience, massage billed as 55 mins took less than 45 from us stepping through the door. Spa facilities were distinctly average and not those expected of a 5* hotel, the only jacuzzi pool available we were told cost an extra 20pp for less than an hour (this is not declared either online or through email booking, very deceptive given it's the main picture advertised on the website). Lockers broken, toilets broken and smelt badly. Perhaps if they treated customers better the place wouldn't have been so empty on Valentine's weekend. Save your money and go to Cameron House.

Very nice country house style hotel. We visited for afternoon tea but stayed for cocktails and were delighted to find a pianist playing Christmas carols to really give a lovely Christmas feel to the afternoon. Comfortable and welcoming, maybe needs a little TLC here and there but that could also be charitably described as shabby chic. Several white vans parked at the front of the hotel spoiled the Grand entrance and was a surprise to see on a Saturday afternoon.
Especially as they seemed to be from the nearby golf course, as the cleaning of muddy golf carts and shoes all over the place did little to enhance the initial experience. Would have rated higher if first impressions had been less agricultural.

I'd give zero starts if I could after my experience. Was treated by my husband to a Mum to be Spa package. At 8 and a half months pregnant you can imagine I was looking for to a massage and a bit of pamper time. No, instead I was body shammed for having stretch marks and dry skin. Exact words of the therapist was "your skin is really dry and your stretch marks are really bad, you need to put something on them" left the place angry, embarrassed and disheartened! So unprofessional!

A special building in a special location, but overall a little underwhelming given it is marketed as a 5* hotel. We stayed for two nights and found the hotel inside to be a bit tired and worn. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night which was OK but nothing to write home about. Staff were all friendly and the golf course looked nice and well maintained (though we didn't have time in our schedule to play).

It feels odd to admit to eating here on a meal deal, but that's just what I did. Being on the Mar Hall mailing list pays off, as they emailed round with a deal on a rack of lamb main course for 2, for 35. Being gluttons, we opted to add starters and desserts, and a bottle of wine and all were entirely delicious. The lamb was really top notch quality and cooked to perfection - the chef in his fancy chef hat came out to carve it for us which was nice. All in a delightful setting, with pretty good service, this is a recommended place to eat from me!

The worst service ever. We dropped into the hotel at Mar Hall for a coffee after enjoying a lovely lunch at Il Posto. We waited for ages to get served. My espresso was cold as it came from the bar and probably sat there for ages until the lackadaisical waitress eventually got round to picking it up and serving it to me. I sent it back. The espresso was reheated in the microwave!
To add insult to injury we had to interrupt the waitress who was having a good old gab with some customers having afternoon tea to ask for our bill and that took another age. What a let down! Who on earth reheats an espresso in the microwave and in a five-star hotel to boot? And the bill for the reheated espresso etc, well that was in keeping with five-star prices.

I have mixed feelings about Mar Hall - I had my wedding reception here, so obviously it will always be a special place to me. And it definitely has a genuine "wow" factor when you walk up to and into the hall. When my wife to be saw the place she knew instantly that she wanted it for her wedding reception. I have stayed several times and the rooms are also pretty nice But - the service and actual food can be all over the shop.
Perfect example - I attended yesterday for a champagne afternoon tea. My sister had got me a voucher about a year ago. Upon close inspection a few weeks ago, it seemed the voucher had expired in April (why give a voucher a 10-month lifespan? - seems very arbitrary). Anyway, I got in touch and reception kindly agreed to extend the voucher. So far so reasonable. However, yesterday I was greeted by a manager who said "I believe you have an expired voucher".
Why was mentioning the expiry, which I had addressed, relevant in any way? Was I supposed to feel like I was being done a favour? Quite rude I think. Further the voucher clearly stated "champagne" but no champagne was offered. As it happened I wasn't that bothered, but that's still not very impressive. And the afternoon tea itself was distinctly workmanlike (particularly the sandwiches) - the afternoon tea at the Butterfly and Pig on Bath Street is half the price but knocks spots off it. As we left we heard Robbie Williams' tour manager speaking to reception. Perhaps everybody was just too excited about Robbie's arrival!

We had a night here courtesy of a friend that had booked out the hotel for their wedding.apart from the quality of the execution of the whole event (which was absolutely excellent) the surroundings are breathtaking, the rooms exquisite and well decorated and the food absolutely delicious (ooh except the bacon and tattie scones in the morning which were a little under done). I was desperate to try out the spa and am sure we'll be back to do so in the future. A perfect setting to have a romantic break away

Mar Hall is a luxury 5 star hotel about 10 minutes drive from Glasgow Airport. It is an absolutely stunning building inside and out and is set amongst the bonnie Kilpatrick Hills. The hotel has 53 rooms, each of them completely individual. I would advise that if you can stretch your budget to a suite, you do so as they are absolutely gorgeous. I spent a good 2 hours in the bath of one suit during one visit because it was just so huge and decadent.
There are usually some good deals on, mostly accommodation plus meals and spa treatment based packages so it is worth checking out the website to see what they have on offer. Mar Hall is a favorite with celebrities touring Scotland and I have run into Ronan Keaton and Coldplay while staying here! I am very lucky my employer often uses Mar Hall to entertain visiting customers!
So if you're very lucky you might bump into someone famous! I have never used the spa myself but I believe it was the UKs first Aveda Spa and I am a huge fan of Aveda products. I have however used the pool and gym, and as you would expect from a 5 star hotel, they were immaculate. The food is always wonderful and when I'm feeling extremely flush I love to go to Mar Hall for Sunday Dinner with my lovely mum.
I also highly recommend the Afternoon Tea; nothing makes you feel more like a heroine from a Jane Austin novel! You will have to book however because dining in Mar Hall is always popular at any time of year. I have also been to a couple of weddings at Mar Hall and they have been stunning. So if you are getting married and have a ridiculous amount of money to spend on your wedding then it is definitely worth checking out! Mar Hall usually has a booth at the Scottish Wedding Show held every year at the SECC.

Stayed with these great people 11 days. Could not have had a better time, unless I stayed longer. The people in the surrounding areas were also very nice, Three times we were given a ride back to Mar-Hall, when we found ourselves without a cab or bus nearby, by local residents. The staff the food the view the weather could not have been better. Thanks for a great time. Brett
