Qualified by a country upbringing and a Cambridge philosophy degree to do nothing in particular, Tim Hart tried to be a high-powered investment banker for 10 years before finding his vocation as a hotelier, restauranteur and small-time entrepreneur. Hambleton Hall in Rutland (1979) was his first venture and he was quite content perfecting this rural idyll until nagged by Nottingham based clients to open HART'S.
Full English breakfast and our intimate Hart's Kitchen are among the hotel's most popular facilities and services, along with our secluded garden with stunning views over Nottinghamshire. Everything a guest might need can be found in our bedrooms, from a personal working desk, complimentary Wi-Fi and satellite TV. See our full list outlined below.

Great service, comfy rooms and beds, very close to the castle so right in the heart of the city and toursit areas. Very accomodating staff couldn't do any more for us, they treated us like royalty. They were all so kind and helpful, making us breakfast especially in the reception because we had a dog, but you can equally have it in your room. Great place, would come again anyday.

We've been coming here for around 8 years and tonight was a pretty poor experience. We booked for my dad's 75th birthday meal at Harts Restuarant. From booking in January to them not getting back to confirm the table, and me chasing early April to find out if it was not confirmed at all, only to be told that they could fit us is for a table of 8, 45 minutes after we wanted to - just sloppy really.
The restaurant is in need of a refurb, the wallpaper is peeling off the walls and the carpets are all dirty, just not like it used to be and no care and attention to detail anymore. The service is now below average, waitress, banging down plates leaning over everyone, laying knives and forks down with no real care for presentation. This was one of the nice fine dining restaurants of its day, now its like you're going into a gastro pub where staff don't really care.
Food - presentation was the upside, and this has remained high every time we visit. The beef and cod dishes that our party had were well cooked, however that alongside what looked like some chip shop chips brought out as a side, just looked totally off compared to the main dishes, like they'd gone down the road to a chippy and served these up alongside the main.
We fed this back to the waitress but it went in one ear and out the other. Unfortunately I think this will be our last visit and we will be going to local run places where they put the customers first and don't hang on the coat tails of what was a good reputation without putting in any effort. Sorry Harts, your team need to get back to what they used to be and focus on quality, service and experience.

I did not stay at the hotel so I am only commenting on the kitchen for dinner. The hotel and the kitchen looked incredible. Really nice atmosphere and the service was top notch. The only thing that let this place down was the food. The food should be below half price of what you actually pay. If you are eating for a special occasion don't choose here you will agree if you do. The food was nice but for the price you pay you expect for example langar hall quality.

I enjoyed Hart's pre-covid and was looking forward to returning, but was left a little disappointed. It was by no means a bad experience, but I was expecting excellent and would say the experience was adequate-good. Whilst the cod starter was great, the pork main was OK, and the service attention to detail was missing - and the 'new' dining room is in what was the bar area (now the 'old' main dining room is no more). Considering the fantastic alternatives Nottingham has to offer, this now feels overpriced for what it is.

Tim Hart brings a hint of Hambleton Hall to the centre of Nottingham. A lovely, intimate restaurant set inside Nottingham's finest boutique hotel, Hart's Kitchen combines imaginative food with attentive service and a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Best of all, as Hart's Kitchen is open from 7am, you can enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea or supper here! I intend to go for the Full House and try them all! Hugely recommended.

Be careful when booking, they don't take your card details to pay they take it on the day, rude attitude when asked at the reception desk, we were planning on eating in the restaurant but after standing waiting for a table for 10 minutes being ignored we left. Complaint to the manager to be told our complaint was just and inconvenience and was not necessary. shocking!

I've been to so many cities in UK visit lots of hotels too but this Hotel is just UNIQUE. The customer services I received form the two beautiful and professional ladies at the reception was out of this world really, I WOW. Ladies I stepped into your hotel at around 14:07 seeking assistance and you rendered even though I m not a resident at your hotel. Thank ladies and your management should be really proud of your personality and professionalism.

Did not stay, but did have lunch, Sadly very uninspiring. Nothing bad, but neither exceptional. Service was fine, decor was rather like a 3* hotel lobby. For the price point it's way off the mark, in terms of choice on the menu. To sum it up, it's stuck in a different decade, and caters to those who still wish they were in it. A very vanilla experience.

From the moment you walk in the door, you feel calm, peaceful and glad to be there. The decor is a mixture of luxurious and quirky which works. The rooms are spacious and full of character. We stayed in a suite which have floor to ceiling windows in both the bedroom and seating area, with stunning views of the city of Nottingham. Breakfast was one of the best I ever had. Service was fabulous and everyone makes you feel welcome. I would highly recommend.

We have eaten at Harts many times over the years and always had wonderful experiences! The restaurant was special to us given that we spent our engagement evening there. I booked Harts expecting to eat in the restaurant we knew and loved. Without any obvious notice on the website, we arrived to see the restaurant closed. I assumed I'd made a mistake, but no, we were directed into a tiny Hotel bar with tables in it along with around 6 other guests and empty tables.
We were informed that Mr. Hart had indeed closed the restaurant in 2019 and that this was the " new Harts" we perused the extremely limited menu and given the distinct lack of atmosphere, decided to cancel our booking and eat elsewhere. I have never done this before. The Maitre D, tried to convince us that the experience was the same as the restaurant. On exit, we were met with other guests outside who fully understood our decision. What a pity, we had considered booking a wedding here, sadly we wouldn't consider it now
