What a terrible dining experience! I was hoping for a fine dining experience for my American guests but we ended up leaving without eating anything due to the terrible service. Only one other table was busy when we arrived but it still took a while to even get a drink. The "full bar" was unable to make the drinks we requested and then when we tried to order something else, we were told that one of the spirits wasn't available even though it was on the menu.

The server had zero idea what vegan options they had to eat and had to keep running back to the chef to ask questions. Once we ordered, it took over an hour for the food to arrive (and half an hour for a second drink) and when the food did arrive, it was completely the wrong order for all three of us. We sent the food back and said that we were leaving.

We were told that the drinks were on the house by way of an apology. We even had trouble exiting the car park because the pay machine wasn't working and they had to manually release the exit barrier for us (yes, it costs you to park at this "fine dining" restaurant and hotel!). We won't be going back!

Afternoon tea was a bit disappointing, the food was nothing special, they increased the afternoon tea price for the Jubilee weekend, however portions sizes were stingy considering the upper market price. Sandwiches were basic. Service staff were friendly but gave little information. It's lovely location but the room acoustic needs to be improved. I would not return.

Reception desk unmanned on our arrival (hence only 4 stars) but the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Lovely large room with a large comfortable bed and large en suite bathroom. Accommodated our request for an early dinner so we had plenty of time to walk to the Motor point Arena to see Andre Rieu and his lovely orchestra. Our first night away from home for some time and we had a very enjoyable stay. Nice breakfast - would recommend.

Excellent service! Especially from a young lady named Faith. The perfect temperament and fully attentive to the guests requests. I always like to tip good service especially when you consider the wage they likely recieve and with being students usually. Not an easy job but she manages it in style.

We had our wedding at Colwick Hall on 9/4/22. We had an amazing day! From booking, the wedding team were brilliant with their communication and answering questions that we had. Sam was so helpful with helping us to book rooms and with the organising on the day, alongside other lovely staff members! The grounds are beautiful. The grand ballroom and champagne lounge were stunning rooms.

We had so many compliments on the venue from our guests. The food and drinks were brilliant. The only small area of improvement would be the amount of food. Overall there was actually too much food during the wedding breakfast and for the buffet, which meant that sadly quite a lot of food went to waste (we asked if we could take any of the buffet food home but were not allowed due to health and safety) which was upsetting.

We could have had slightly more canapes during the afternoon though as these went quite fast. We stayed the night before and night of the wedding. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfast was very tasty. We'd definitely come back to stay again!

I didn't get to stay unfortunately as it was fully booked. But my family had four rooms and book often. The staff couldn't be any nicer, nothing was too much trouble so friendly and welcoming. Even helped us store food for my late grandmother's wake. Can't thank you all enough. Lovely hotel and grounds. Look forward to staying in the future.

Fabulous location, beautiful room. Food OK but poor value. Gave in and paid 5 to escape the car park, despite it being part of our package, as there was no answer on the intercom and we didn't have time to go back to reception.

Colwick Hall Hotel wedding venue We booked a show around for this wedding venue and had fantastic friendly communication right from the first contact. The show around was beautiful: stunning historic building, deceptively huge, stunning decor, attentive and friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. We booked them as our venue the next day and cannot wait to get married here We have also had afternoon tea in the restaurant and it was exquisite.

They also cater for all dietary requirements as my family are gluten and dairy intolerant. Special thanks to Diandra and Sam for making us feel more like friends than guests.

We had chosen this venue to get married in, and Naomi had been a star from the very beginning. Even if I had 500 queries, I knew I'd be able to count on her to answer and help me out with every single one. The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking, from the ballroom to the grounds, it's all immaculately kept. Thank you everybody at Colwick Hall for helping our special day be just that much more special!

Booked for afternoon tea for my friend's birthday and was very disappointed. although the setting is lovely I felt the experience could have been so much better. there was not much in the way of welcome or being 'looked after ' we had to ask for hot water for the tea and tea/ coffee was not replenished. the sandwiches were ok but the scones were hard, crispy and cold and one very small pot of jam was to be shared by 3 people!

Just those little touches like a table cloth and lovely china were missing. We were expecting a "wonderful" experience for the relatively high price and came away feeling very disappointed especially when we found out we had to pay to get out of the car park not good when you've just spent money eating there! Colwick Hall is a beautiful place and I just think it could do better

Booked the New Year's Eve meal and festivities. Paid over 70.00 per person. Promised fireworks, bag pipers and disco with DJ. The sales person called to inform us there was a problem with number so they were cancelling the fireworks and bag pipes but they wouls still have a disco but would be in a seperate room to the meal. Fine, we said, not ideal but ok. Arrived to the Hotel, a beautiful venue.

Not sure where to go upon entry and no one to direct you. At the sit down meal, food was atrocious. 3 very small medallions of lamb, only one was edible. The other two were complete fat and gristle. Starter was below average and dessert was a slice of bread made up to be bread and butter pudding. We could have had a better meal at the local pub for a tenner.

Drink service was slow, staff were in different outfits so you couldn't tell who was staff or guests. Then we saw staff taking chairs out of the dining room and putting them in the room with the bar. I asked where the Dj disco room was and they said oh there is no DJ, we are just putting chairs in this room, putting music over the loud speakers and people can dance if they want.

I couldn't believe that! There was no mention of the DJ being cancelled. So we all sat around like idiots in this big empty room on chairs, only the drunkest of the drunk got up to dance. There was not even a countdown. One of the bar staff got up right before midnight and stood on a table and yelled out happy new year, now let's all get drunk. Totally unprofessional, cheap and tacky. For this reason I will not frequent this place again. What a let down and total waste of money for an evening.

Just a stroll in the grounds. Great pathways and eating areas. Glad we visited.

My husband treated my friend and I to afternoon tea at Colwick Hall which was most enjoyable. The staff were friendly and attentive. No complaints until we drove out of the carpark to find, even though we had eaten at the premises, there was a 2.50 parking fee. What was up until then a lovely afternoon left rather a nasty taste as we were not anticipating having to pay for parking and thought it a cheek as we were then captive and had no choice.

Met the girls for afternoon tea. A beautiful selection of sandwiches and cakes which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Lovely surroundings, would return.

Not the 4* experience we were hoping for. We booked there to go to the races nearby for my husbands birthday. The hotel is in it's own grounds with nothing much nearby except the racecourse. We should have asked if they had a lift, which they don't, as my husband is disabled and when we arrived our room was up four flights of stairs in the attics.

The rooms are described as "boutique". I don't think so. The bath/shower was impossible to get into for him and I suspect most people would have had difficulty. The toilet worked for part of the time and the maintenance people looked at it and said they had to order a part. For part of the night we had to go down 3 flights of stairs to get to the nearest toilet until it righted itself for a while.

They said they would refund us but they didn't. There wasn't another room to be had as they were fully booked, although the hotel seemed dead and without atmosphere. The bar and restaurant were cold although the bar and restaurant staff were very nice. We were the only people in there most times. The hot breakfast was not the best although dinner was good if expensive. All in all the best thing I can say about staying at the Colwick Hall was that the bed was comfortable. I wouldn't recommend the Colwick Hall.

The hotel itself is a great place visit sat in the edge of Colwick Country Park which is always worth strolling around. Next to the hotel are the church ruins which, for both amateur and professional photographers, is a fabulous place to take pictures day or night. One of my favourite places to go - a bit spooky at night too!

Great gluten free food! Attended a wedding as a guest yesterday and can honestly say I've never been better fed. I'm coeliac, need gluten free food and was accommodated handsomely, at both the wedding breakfast and evening buffet. Well done to the catering department, the pleasure was all mine! Thank you

Can't say to much as we only had a couple of drinks but lovely looking place the staff seemed very friendly. It's all clean as you would expect. We never ate here but menu looked good and prices weren't that over the top either. Definitely worth a visit.

All the staff were lovely and looked after us well. The hotel itself is a wonderful building with a history and the grounds are stunning. The view from our large bedroom was glorious and the fountain lulled us to sleep in the evening. We were there for birthday celebrations and were made most welcome. Nottingham station isn't far away but the views from the hotel are purely beautiful grounds and countryside beyond. I would love to stay again in the future. Thanks to all the staff.
