Duisdale Hotel Ken Gunn and Anne Gracie have just taken over the Duisdale House Hotel on the beautiful Isle of Skye. Duisdale is set in lovely gardens which surround the hotel and extend to about 30 acres of wooded hillside. There are breathtaking views across the sea to the hills of Knoydart. Ken and Anne own the Toravaig House Hotel, the small boutique hotel which is three miles distant.

Our best hotel that we stayed in while in Scotland. Almost every single staff member at Skeabost House was exceptionally warm and hospitable (except for one, the older man with balding head, cant remember his name, works in the restaurant bar area typically, not to be confused with "John" who was amazing and so friendly and fun to talk to). The gentleman that I had complaints about was just generally unfriendly, and when we asked for anything he seemed to basically roll his eyes, or make us feel like we were bothering him or annoying him.

The room was great, I wish we had a view of the loch but honestly the comfort of the mattress and the awesome brand new renovated bathroom (towel warmer was broken) gave us everything we needed. The restaurant here was kind of disappointing. Our dishes were just ok, but way overly priced for what they served. The setting of the restaurant is amazing and beautiful, but the food quality and price did not match.

The pesto pasta my wife ordered came with no pesto on it, and was very bland. The fish I ordered was good but it wasn't worth $40. They are charging double what they should for these dishes, I wouldn't recommend eating here, as you will find better quality food in the area for a quarter of the price. The drinks and bar/sitting area was very nice, we were able to chat with local travelers every night. John, an older man who bartended was a great treat, very fun to talk to.

We went for a walk toward the lake but were attacked by "midges" who bit us, so walking the grounds became less of an option. We also watched an oyster catcher (Bird) attack several other guests who attempted to walk out to get a view of the loch (I believe it was near the bird's nest, but the hotel should consider doing something about this as guests can't really walk the lake without getting attacked).

The front and back of the hotel had scaffolding set up, it is being repaired, but this was rather unsightly considering what we paid to stay in this hotel. We even talked to a few guests who had workers banging on the roof early in the morning waking them up (workers were smoking and smoke was drifting into the room). We are glad this didn't happen to us, as I would have been very upset. Overall, I would definitely recommend staying here if in Scotland (Isle of Skye). I think the few negative things I mentioned would really make this hotel 5 star.

So overpriced for what you get. Rooms are small, naughties decor, nice balcony but paint falling off the walls. No mini bar or room service menu. Small bar to drink in. Great shower. The restaurant food was lovely though and staff were very friendly. Breakfast understaffed for the number of people that were there and food average. Felt bad for the staff working for guests expecting 5 star hotel for that price.

All the staff were friendly and accommodating. As we had our little well behaved dog with us we had to sit in a different dining area but it was beautifully decorated and we could see across the veranda to the golf course and the lake. I have quite a few dietary requirements but the chef was fantastic and was able to alter the main course I chose so that I could actually eat it. It was delicious! We would really recommend going here, it really was a lovely treat :

We were not actually staying at the hotel but went there for a meal.on a whim as we were staying close by and had noticed the sign. The service we received from Nicola and others was fabulous. Nicola also shared some history of the hotel and clearly had a passion for her work, her bosses and this magnificent establishment. Nicola also shared that they had just buried a time capsule and was quite touched by the fact that she may be one of the few alive when it is uncovered many years hence.

She was also a keen Rangers fan! Now to the food.it was absolutely delicious. Pete and I both chose the curry covered sole with capers and salad. Every mouthful was a sensation. We ate as slowly as possible to extend the tastebud treats! We followed up with a very yummy sticky toffee pudding Thankyou for a particularly enlightening and inspiring dining experience in your magnificent and sun filled conservatorium overlooking the loch and golf green!

We spent two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. John was a wonderful host. The entire staff were excellent. The rooms, beds and linens were so comfortable. We enjoyed the fire in the evenings after our days out. We chose to have dinner there both nights and it was quite good. We also enjoyed our breakfasts. It's a beautiful location as well. We highly recommend this wonderful hotel

A welcome luxury after being in a camper van for 7 days. The staff here are second to none, friendly and couldn't have done more for you. Amazing food, great drinks and a fire for after dinner. Room was spacious and well looked after.

Had dinner here last night, and we were very impressed with the attentive service and the excellent menu and food. However, our experience was really let down by the hotel interior- although it's a gorgeous building, what the hotel website doesn't show you is another dining area separate to the conservatory and the more traditional panelled dining room which is where ourselves and other guests were sat.

The room felt more like a disused meeting room, with harsh lighting and a very uncomfortable atmosphere (it was essentially a corridor from the kitchen and bar area through to the main conservatory dining room). With a spruce-up this too could be a lovely area to eat thanks to the stunning views, however currently it is not fit for purpose in a hotel of this standard.

We assume perhaps the reason we were sat here was because we were not staying in the hotel itself? Very disappointed, and we expected more from a hotel which is held in such high regard

Beautiful setting for this amazing hotel the rooms were very comfortable and clean with views of the Loch. Staff all really friendly and helpful on arrival we had a very friendly welcome from receptionist Sarah. We could not have asked for more. We ate in the dinning room on 3 of the nights and the food was lovely and all freshly cooked my only complaint was that the menu was small and didn't change hence why we went out one evening.

From the friendly staff to the roaring fire everything was amazing. Our 4 night stay went far too quickly. We would love to have had longer. If we go back to the Isle of sky we will definitely go back. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

Don't waste your time, go to the group's other location down the road called Duisdale. It is hands down better all around. I stayed in June 2018 and instead of correcting mistakes, they're more concerned about arguing that they are right. Food allergies are very serious. Perhaps a new chef would be all it would take to improve this place.
