Stayed at this hotel as a midweek treat, I hadn't been well and my husband had treated me as a surprise. Our welcome was good and we had chosen one of the more expensive rooms which was OK but.was very cold on arrival and because there was no thermostat to control the heating we found an old electric radiator behind the sofa. This took 2 hours to heat the room up.
We had made a reservation for dinner and were disappointed to discover the restaurant closed with dinner being served in the bar. We were asked where we would like to be seated as the bar was empty to be told our chosen table was reserved! I pointed out that I felt uncomfortable eating in the middle of the room but then the young waitress seated us in the middle of the room!
Our olive appetiser would have been lovely with some bread but none appeared! Our starters arrived with no interaction from the waitress. My husbands seafood gratin was lovely but again no bread for the sauce and was served in a bowl with a knife and fork so all the delicious sauce went back to the kitchen. My crab starter was very disappointing and tasted very bland, I wasn't able to season it myself as there were no condiments on the table along with an empty candle holder.
Main course: fish of the day, smallest fillet of sea bream you could possibly serve- I always thought that fish of the day was a whole fish or at least both fillets on a bed of green garlic risotto that totally overpowered the fish. My husband ordered medium sirloin at approx 30! This came very well done so was sent back to the kitchen. The second attempt was better but was soooo over seasoned he struggled to eat it.
We didn't bother with a sweet, we were so disappointed. We went back to our room hoping it would now be warmer. The TV signal was dreadful and kept pixalating so in the end we went to bed. The following day we stayed for breakfast which was good - obviously not the same chef from the night before. Won't be staying at the wolfcastle country hotel again- how disappointing

My son Scott has to decided to spread his wings and move on. He is a chef and was looking to move on to something different. His best mate had moved to Fishguard so he thought he would have a look. He got a job here in the kitchen as a pastry chef. Oh my god the food is so good we are from Bournemouth and have so much to choose from but if this was on my doorstep would not be going anywhere else. The atmosphere was great the staff were great. Let's hope he stays there as I want to eat more of there great food

Delicious Sunday roast today. I had the beef sirloin which was perfectly cooked and tasty. The roast potatoes were good, as were the sides, especially the Molly Parkin (hadn't tasted that before and I'm definitely going to add it to my recipe collection!) The pudding was extravagant for two people who had already eaten too much. Chocolate croissant bread and butter pudding that I managed to squeeze in, full to the brim, it was fab. Service was also great, quick food delivery, and we'll definitely be back for another visit.

Was treated by my wife to a spa package with lunch for Christmas and it was a faultless experience! The new very warm outdoor whirlpool (new since our last visit in 2018) was a joy to use, even in the cold December drizzle. The massage was the best I've ever had, and the lunch was exquisite. If I didn't live 200+ miles away I would be coming here regularly!

I was treated to the most amazing birthday stay here. My husband had upgraded our room to the bridle suite which was extremely well appointed, comfortable and clean. We were booked in with the romantic spa stay making the stay from start to finish extra special. This included use of the outdoor jacuzzi and sauna, a relaxing back and shoulder massage, complimentary prosecco and truffles in our room upon arrival and a 3 course meal.
The food was excellent, so tasty. I was also surprised with a birthday card and mini dessert platter complete with birthday message and candle! A nice touch and much appreciated. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
