It was an extremely pleasant stay. The man who greeted me when I arrived and that served breakfast in the breakfast room in the morning was extremely welcoming and upbeat. He seemed to be a really good man, who was extremely kind and warm. I actually complimented him at breakfast because I really was genuinely impressed by how welcoming he was. He appeared to be very interesting actually and I wish I had spoken to him more outside of saying hello on arrival and in the morning at breakfast.
The breakfast was good, there was some homemade marmalade on the table which I tried some of, and a selection on cereals/ tea e.t.c The room was extremely comfortable. It also had very good facilities in the room I was in (room 9) TV/Bathroom/Tea making facilities/Soap e.t.c. I would definitely recommend this B&B. Best of luck in the future, and thank you so much for your hospitality. Very kind regards, Alex.

This BnB is centrally located for an array of shops and restaurants, as well as being close to town either by walking or using the regular bus service. The room we had was spacious and had tea and coffee provided. It did have a private bathroom and the bedding was clean. Plenty of towels are provided. The people who run this establishment are extremely nice but unfortunately not currently keeping the decor up to date. Carpets are worn and faded, as is the decoration in the room and corridors. It is in serious need of a refurbishment but as the hotel regularly booked up, I guess people are happy to still stay here.

I occasionally work in Bristol and have stayed at the Arches Hotel plenty of times in the last year. Both Wendy and Frank are friendly and excellent hosts, the rooms are clean neat and tidy, the breakfasts are excellent and a lot of attention is paid to special dietary requirements, (gluten free and vegan options are there at the outset). I feel very much at home when I stay here and always have a very pleasant experience.

Amazing value for money. Highly recommended. Francois has a wicked sense of humour and Wendy was so lovely. Unfortunately I had too much of a hangover to fully appreciate the effort Wendy made for breakfast. Home-made marmalade with such care in the service! Thank you for having me both. The only reason I wouldn't recommend this hotel would be to keep some availability open for me if I wanted to go back! xxx

- I live down the road from the Arches house and when my parents came to visit they needed a place to stay for the night. I told them about the Arches Hotel and they didn't need much persuading. The Victorian building is on a quiet road which is great for a good night's sleep, but is within ten minutes walking distance from the city centre- perfect for any visitor.
The Arches Hotel is a family-run business and my parents said that this familiar, cosy, and comfortable feeling pervaded through the walls-making their stay welcome and enjoyable.

The Arches Hotel is located very near what is locally known as 'The Arches'. To visitors or non locals, this is basically a busy junction (joining the lower end of Gloucester Road to Cheltenham Road) with a series of arches in which the Avonmouth-Temple Meads train runs over. The actual hotel is located on a road called Cotham Brow which leads off from this point.
Location wise, The Arches Hotel is a bit far from town for it to be labelled 'central'. Unless you don't mind walking, it's best to get a bus (which does run ever 5mins) to town which would only take 10minutes maximum. The hotel is rated 3* by the AA which I reckon is justified. Rooms are cute, quaint and very old English but they aren't very big.
They have everything you could want for a weekend get-away, but don't expect The Ritz. The receptionist was very knowledgeable about the local tourist attractions and they had some handy maps and vouchers at the front desk. Rooms start at 35 for a single for one night with breakfast included.
