Services
The Wheatsheaf Inn is a family business run by two sisters: Claire Boulton-Lear and Emily Skelton. Both have extensive experience in the hospitality industry. The Inn was built in the early 1800s and began life as both the local coaching inn and the village butcher's. Throughout its lifetime the inn has passed through generations of families, some who still live in the village, adding to the sense of charm and traditional hospitality that runs through the heart of this quintessential Yorkshire Dales accommodation.
In addition to our 14 bedrooms at the Wheatsheaf, we have a spacious self catering apartment. It has an open plan dining and living area, with a well-equipped kitchen (including a washing machine to do your own clothes), a lounge with TV, DVD player and free wifi, double bedroom and bathroom with shower over bath.

Visited for lunch with our dog on a Tuesday, we sat in the bar area as we had our dog with us. Staff were friendly and service/food good. Partner had the stake and ale pie which he loved and I had the tuna melt. Our dog did bark at some people but staff really made us feel OK about it which was nice! Would come back again.

Made an unplanned stop for lunch and had a sharing platter, soup of the day, and syrup sponge pudding to share. The food was delicious from first bite to last and was priced fairly. Both of the staff on duty were very welcoming and checked back with us regularly to ensure we wanted for nothing. Lots of parking our the back and a nice warm open fire to great those on foot on colder days. While we didn't see any of the rooms, the bar and toilets were immaculate. We intend to revisit in future and try out more of the menu.

Booked a table for midday this Easter Sunday. The landlady dealt with a small drinks issue very swiftly and professionally, in fact the whole service here needs a special mention, very efficient and friendly. Carrot and coriander soup was excellent. Roast beef dinner was very good, could have managed an additional vegetable and a slightly larger Yorkshire pudding, but for the modest price that you pay I wholly recommend this establishment.

Popped in here for a quick bite of lunch. Choice of sandwiches available and enjoyed an excellent "crusty melt", consisting a melted cheese on ham, on some crusty bread. Other choices of sandwiches were available and included egg mayonnaise and cress, and prawn mayonnaise. Good selection selection of beers available, and they serve coffee. Service was prompt and friendly, and prices were quite reasonable.
