Services
Reeth, which in Saxon times was only a settlement on the forest edge, but by the time of the Norman Conquest it had grown sufficiently in importance to be noted in the Doomsday Book. Later it became a centre for hand-knitting and the local lead industry was controlled from here, but it was always a market town for the local farming community.
Welcome to a bar with traditional styling and a modern approach to hospitality and service. Cask conditional hand pulled ales from Theakstons and Black Sheep, a comprehensive range of premium lagers and spirits. The atmosphere and character of the bar can go from one extreme to the other with quiet winter afternoons in front of the open fires contrasted with one of our many live entertainment nights hosted throughout the year at the Black Bull Bar.What we can guarantee you is a warm welcome, fines ales, good food and a great time!
This rural bolthole offers comfort and attention to detail, within a personal and friendly environment. We embrace the principle of good food in relaxed surroundings, we always use the freshest and best of ingredients and buy locally wherever possible. Our menus celebrate a fabulous array of locally sourced meats, vegetables, fresh fish and seafood. As the seasons change so do our menus, to reflect the wealth of local produce for which this area is renowned; expect Blackboard Specials that reflect this.

Delicious food, I had the Hunters Chicken and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were able to book a table at short notice. Service was very good. I would recommend it.

6 star review! Everything was 5 star, but customer care gets 6 stars, because David drove all the way to Richmond, in his own time, to return a travel diary that we had left by mistake. That's real customer care!

Didnt actually stay here, but did have an evening meal here during our recent stay in Reeth. Food was dreadful. My husband had the spare ribs, which were very bland and lacked the sticky sauce that makes a good set of ribs. I had the Chicken Katsu Curry. Before making my choice I asked the waiter what was Katsu Curry, to which he could not tell me, so I went ahead and ordered anyway.

Much to my disappointment the dish was basically a Chicken Parmo (which they also served on the menu), minus the white sauce, cheese and toppings, cut into strips with a fish n chip shop style curry poured over the entire plate including the accompanying rice and naan bread. The only thing that I could actually taste was the fish & chip shop style curry. Even the naan bread was unsalvagable under the curry, which made the naan soggy. Enjoyed our stay in Reeth immensely, but will not be eating here again.

After a slight altercation with the landlord which he apologised for. We had drinks two days running and 10 of us had a great meal. Great pub with a great variety of Ales. Landlord isn't bad either

You will not get a better welcome in the Dales. A proper pub with open fires and hearty home cooking. The selection of beers is excellent and the rooms are comfortable and very affordable. We WILL be returning as soon as we can.

Absolutely Fantastic time Helen was so lovely, kind and went above and beyond as an owner in helping us after we were rescued. She even tried to contact us when we were late in checking in. Gave me her Night Wear electric toothbrush tooth paste deodorant bodyspray etc. The quality of their hearty Steak and Kidney, and, steak and Ale pie was just AMAZING. WE really Stranded, her husband said he would drive us wherever we wanted to go to our next destination until we got our car sorted. Must also thank Alan (the Farmer) who had great chat to. Lovely place Owners and People. THANK YOU ALL.
