Services
The heart of the property is the 150 year old Victorian "Villa", designed and built during the emergence of Cowes as the yachting capital of the world. The passing of time ebbs and flows, people come and go yet some things will for-always remain unchanged. For almost half a century, guests from all over the world have called this little slice of Cowes a home from home.
Named after the historic J class yachts that have graced the Solent for the past 100 years. Morning Cloud was the name given to a series of yachts owned by the former British Prime Minister Edward Heath. It was during his participation in the Admirals Cup that Mr Heath sat down with the owner of Villa (Pixie) and discussed how the property would make a fantastic hotel.
If you are travelling without your car then the RedJet is conveniently placed to take you from Southampton Quays right into the heart of (West)Cowes with an estimated travel time of 25 minutes. If you give us a call the day you are arriving or catch us before checkout we can usually shuttle you to and from the RedJet terminal in Cowes.

Like stepping back in time to a world where service and attention to detail came as standard. We stayed in Mrs H's room which had wonderful views over the Solent. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Decor throughout the hotel is faded elegance (in the best possible way) from the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The owner and staff were efficient and charming with wonderful stories about the great and good that have graced it's wall in bygone years. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Some of the bedroom's furnishings in need of repair or replacement, and a strong musty smell in my room, but spotlessly clean. Gorgeous sea view. Breakfast area lovely and breakfast itself amazing, with a variety of options and immaculate tables. Owner very helpful and delightful young lady serving breakfast

A perfect home from home hotel, offering very friendly and helpful owners going above and beyond to ensure you are comfortable. Whilst staying here and working away from home throughout the year, it offered more than you could ask for. The owners were always mindful of your needs and familiar comforts which always made me look forward to staying here.
It was a couple of years ago I stayed here but miss the team and at the first opportunity, would live to come back and visit the island and stay here again. Thank you for always being so nice and looking after me.

As a recreational sailor I loved the ambience of this very comfortable, slightly eclectic hotel, with its memorabilia and other nautical trappings. The owners/hosts were the epitome of low-key hospitality, warm and very attentive to evolving needs. My spacious and well equipped double room, writhe its views over the Solent, was a great antidote to the plastic samey-ness of 95% of hotels I stay at around the world, and the lounge, with its honesty bar, projected a genuine invitation for guests to make themselves at home. I couldn't recommend Villa Rothesay too higly.

Rooms were ok but the hotel is run by con artists. Booked a double room for 1 night but was later secretly charged 40 for an 'extra person' even though we were only 2 people. When we challenged the charge we were told it was for extra 'bedding' costs. Basically 40 for a towel we didn't even need. Staff were rude and unreasonable Ignore the lies in the response below.
I was never informed about any charges. I only discovered the extra charge on the company credit card after my stay. Room was setup for 2. Booked a twin/double not a single, not sure how 2 people in a twin room can justify an extra 40%, we didn't even get breakfast. Plenty of lovely hotels in Cowes with lovely staff DO NOT STAY HERE

Went for a Christmas dinner with colleagues. The food is amazing, the staff are very friendly - can have a good laugh with them, and the decor is very impressive. It was a real old styled Christmas layout, felt so Christmasy. Shall be going back just to see the decorations. It's well hidden, definitely a hidden treasure.
