Hate to leave negative reviews, but it wasn't good, no WiFi and as we were downstairs in basement rooms no 4g connection either. Room was quite cold, no hot water from tap, though shower eventually got hot, stayed 3 days, towels or room wasn't changed on last days, so came back to wet towels that were left after shower. didn't see anyone on reception or anywhere after the day we checked in. Tele wasn't working as aerial wasn't attached so had to fit that in myself. It was held with tape as no end on aerial cable.

Booked this hotel on the Internet, received a booking confirmation, a few days later drove 170 miles to the hotel. Waited 20 minutes for a member of staff to appear to be told we were not booked in due to a problem with the booking system. There were six other people in the same situation. When I asked why we had not been informed that we had no booking I got a shrug. There only seemed to be one member of staff working the whole hotel. Bin bags in the corridor. Don't bother with this place

Fawlty Towers! Our room had a large ground floor window that wouldn't close, a strong smell of drains, a lock that looked like it had been smashed in at some point (and ours wasn't the only room with that!) Oh and the bed wasn't made, and when I pulled back the duvet there were hairs in it (!) We asked for a different room. In the next room, someone had recently been sick/peed on the bed.
It was suggested that we "flip the mattress". That's when I decided to leave! We were offered a room for free at this point, but still decided to cut our losses and drive home instead. What a strange place. It's an ex care home and has a shabby, sad vibe. The guy checking us in did his best to help us and was understanding. But honestly, don't stay here. It didn't feel safe and it was pretty dreary. Cant believe its called the unicorn. You've got to laugh.

For 85.00 I expect a much better place than this. The hotel surrounds were full of litter and weeds, full buckets of beer cans, plastic beakers and cigarette ends. The room was supposedly a superior double. The curtains were hanging off, damp mark's around the outside facing wall, paint and plaster peeling, the bathroom towels were full of holes! The bed was comfortable. Of course no one around to demand a refund! I won't be back.

I wouldn't even give it one star but there is no option for zero stars! on checking in we were kept waiting for some time as a young member of staff couldn't check us in but would get someone who could. He arrived in an unprofessional state of dress, asked who was next, as another couple had come in behind us - and attended to them first as they "had transferred from the Crown". unfortunately we didn't get much time in the room before we were picked up, but when we tried to return we had great difficulty in getting the keypad for late entry to work.
As for the room.not in any order of priority. The TV didn't work We had 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel between two There was a card to advise that "forgotten items" could be obtained from reception - but no number to contact a night manager. A number of curtain hooks were missing or broken and that didn't become apparent until the curtains were closed.
There was a base for a kettle bu no kettle - and even if there had been a kettle, to find an appropriate socket, given the length of the cord would have been problematic. a number of light bulbs were either broken of missing. In the morning, we had been promised a Continental Breakfast to be left outside our door - it wasn't We had to check out, where all of these issues would have been raised - and a refund expected - but no-one there; not even in the kitchen. So we left the key on the desk - as others had done before us and left - never to return.

Waiting 30mins for somebody to turn up at reception then told room was not ready. This was 6.30 in the evening not good after a long day. Room was to a average standard with lamp not working and dirty carpets. Bathroom was a wet room and not the cleanest. Mattress was a one night only. I will not return here.

Seemed pleasant on arrival, bar the freezing temperatures in the lobby and hallways, staff are friendly and helpful. However, on 4 occasions during my 3-night stay the electricity went out, on one of the days I went downstairs to order food at 7pm (couldn't find a staff member for 15 minutes) and was told the chef was neither in nor answering his phone.
The shower was lacking in power and couldn't stand upright, so I had to hold it up. The room had cobwebs around the corners and the windows and windowsills were filthy. Would strongly advise to keep away
