When Hari and Colin Fell left London in 2003 for a former working farm they could not have imagined it would become the toast of Tatler and the best kept secret in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Refurbished to form an oasis in the unspoiled Forest of Dean and Wye Valley and set in 14 acres of ancient grassland, the property has been lovingly converted into a boutique rural retreat - the perfect place to kick back and relax.

We had booked lunch here. Place looks lovely and service was really nice. We have ordered a sandwich each which was 7.50 - 8 (London prices) and I expected a "homemade" style sourdough bread and quality ingredients. What we received was tesco style cheap toast bread sandwich with very thin layer of filling and unfortunately it tasted as disappointing as it looked. Maybe dinner menu is good but I will not risk to find out myself.

We were attending a wedding at the castle. Tudor farmhouse is staggering distance from the venue. Our room was quirky and comfortable and quiet considering we faced out onto the road. Breakfast was lovely.

Booked a table of 9 for a baby shower and they let us decorate the table for the occasion. : Lovely food, drinks, atmosphere and service! Will definitely come back again.

This hotel should be a 4*, not 3*. The place is absolutely beautiful nestled in between the woodland, the food is AA rosette and the staff are really what makes the experience so fantastic! What we adored most about our rooms during our stay was the sheer detail and thought that goes into each of them making them incredibly bespoke and just an utter joy to stay in. One of the best staycations we have been on and we will be back. Kaya x

Possibly the best Sunday Lunch that I've ever had! Amazing food. Attentive service and a warm and cozy atmosphere. I would highly recommend.

We stayed here just for a night when we attended a friend's wedding at the nearby castle. We had one of the smallest rooms but it was beautifully furnished and had everything that you could possibly need. We only had breakfast in the lovely restaurant, but is was great and you could see what a nice place it would be to eat dinner. The staff are absolutely lovely and really look after you well.

There are a variety of rooms and they all look inviting me to stay in. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the Forest of Dean, then this would provide you with great accommodation, great food and you will be very well looked after.

Good service and well presented but the food! Very disappointing, so called roast turkey was sliced off a roll, utterly tasteless, sprouts like bullets. Expensive for what you get. Pity because it's a nice place, but never again for us.

Great rooms. Great food. Comfy beds. Even better in the summer. Near lots of activities for all. Only gets 4 stars as breakfast couldn't offer bananas, dried fruit or berries and the 'fresh' chopped fruit was mainly apple. Kids loved scrambled egg on crumpets. Dinners were lovely. Some maintenance issues but overall a lovely place to stay.

Food amazing. Although it would be nice to see a couple of plainer/ simple choices for starters. Staff were most hospitable but not overbearing. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Been coming back for over 7 years now. We have never been disappointed. That comes down to the constant care and dedication of the owners and staff. We've stayed in various rooms, all have their own little wow factor as you open the door. The food is fabulous and one of the many reasons we keep coming back.

Exceptionally tasty food, with a good wine list. A lovely location and atmosphere. The highlight was the staff, who went above and beyond when we couldn't book a taxi. Special thanks to Sarah for saving us from a very long walk home! Cant recommend enough!

Went here for dinner left wanting to stay the night! Food was great, really well prepared, tasty and well presented. At the upper end in terms of price but quality and presentation worth it. Had a quick look around the hotel site and was impressed. Small but looks to be very well kept and worth a night or few quiet nights away in lovely surroundings.
