Stanton House

What a fab hotel! My fiancee and I stayed in an executive room for a night and had a great time. I was impressed how clean the entire hotel smelt and how helpful all the staff were. Our executive room was massive, had a roll top bath, and was quiet at night. The decor in our room was slightly dated but the bathroom was more modern than the rest of it.

The dinner was absolutely fantastic, too, and swapped out the peas that came with the meal for carrots, no quibble. The bar in the conservatory was very chilled. A great night away. Highly recommended. Especially for the rate we paid.

I read the reviews and thought I'd take a chance. I'm so glad I did for the following reasons; 1. Room maybe basic for some but it was the cleanest I've been in the UK. 2. Bathroom had zero black mold grout and was spotless. 3. Located close for cotswolds and Swindon. 4. Beautiful scenery with a lake and outdoor seating. 5. Staff were friendly and helpful. 6. Breakfast had a good variety and well made. 7. Price was very good compared to others during the Bank Holiday. What more do you want for this price range?

Went and had afternoon tea/coffee, with a selection of cakes. Very nice indeed. They had a large gathering due. So our order of 10, got messed up a good few times. But got there in the end. Staff was very polite and well presented. Lovely gardens to walk about.

Had a great one night stay, staff were very friendly, premises were spotless. Breakfast was good with a wide selection of items. If we are ever in Swindon again we will be staying here.

For a 3-star hotel it was fantastic and very well priced. Beautiful location and grounds, fantastic food, and good service. Superior double room was well sized and comfortable, although could do with some minor improvements which is the only reason not to put 5-stars. Ideal location for cotswolds and surrounding areas. So pleased we chose it and would come again. Thanks!

I booked a table for 4 on a Saturday for lunch the following day and had to pay 40. We arrived early had our meal and was given a bill which we paid. On Tuesday, I discovered that both the 40 and the full bill had been taken off my account. When I rang to find out what had happened and get my refund of 40, the lady wasn't pleasant. She wanted to know every item we'd had! Anyhow she promised to look into it and call me back.

After a couple of hours, I rang back. After another long discussion during which I let her know my displeasure and having to give her over 12 items I could recall she still couldn't resolve the issue. It took another couple of hours for her to finally call back and offer the refund. Why upset a customer who you'd overcharged without an apology?

We first came when they still did Japanese food, stopping here for lunch on the way to Cheltenham. They've done some renovations since then as under different ownership now I believe, since Honda closed. A lot more colourful. I wasn't expecting fine dining given the menu and the reasonable rate of the hotel but I will say I really enjoyed the mixed grill.

So much so that I ordered dessert when I normally wouldn't do. I can tell from the staff and a conversation that they are trying very hard to bring it all up a level. Making use of the location for weddings, which seemed to have good value packages available not that I know what a wedding costs. Room was big and the corridor carpet was like the gymnasts run up to the vault, so bouncy. I hope they are able to hire more staff as it's hard for the whole hospitality industry but from our stay, I hope they do really well as they deserve it.

This place has really improved since I visited it a couple of years ago. The new owners are gradually refurbishing all areas and the food is now fab. I had the most delicious Fish Pie in the new Cedar Restaurant. Let's hope it continues!

I have visited a few times on business. Location in the park is stunning. Hotel accommodation is okay (but being upgraded at present). Restaurant is underwhelming. I have eaten my way through the menu - it fills a hole - standard pub menu fare and it never seems to change. Watch out for "homemade apple pie": bought-in pre-baked pastry case with few slices of apple dropped in!

Unbelievably stunning hotel, set a beautiful peace of land with a lake and park nearby. The staff are very friendly, cleanliness definitely a 10/10, and the vibe is amazing. For the price, this is the best bargain out there for quick access to Swindon for shops and quick access to Cotswolds AONB. Free parking included.

Strongly Recommend! Got here through work having a contract with this amazing hotel! The rooms are big and cleaned daily with all the shammpoo's, coffee/tea and linen being replaced at the same time. You. canbprebook your dinner time at reception with a friendly team of Jasmin and Ana guiding you through all the layout of the hotel with an impressive 76 acher surrounding nature reserve land & lake!

The dinner room is modernly decorated with a cosy glassed roof conservatory. The waiting and bar staff are always at hand with a big smile and willingness to make you smile. Avoid at all costs! Dont be fooled by cheap price! Hidden costs and rude staff. Stayed in November 2021 for 3 nights and been charged for 100gbp for breakfasts! Plus there has been charges for the cleaning, which is absolutely absurd. Honestly if this hotel wants to get more guests visiting and get profitable again, all reception management needs to be replaced by staff with at least basic hospitality attitute. Horrible experience with a Polish duty manager lady who lacks basic hospitality rules and rude to customers. No wonder this hotel has so few guests, so they try invoice anything extra. So shame for the new management who bought this hotel.

Attended a Christmas party night which was excellent value for money. Stayed in a fabulous room, yes the decor is dated but it seemed to fit in with the building

Nice building in a nice location with easy walking access to Stanton County Park. Mediocre food. Had Christmas meal there and the vegetarian option didn't even come with roast potatoes, meat (turkey) option was better with roasts, pig in blanket and Yorkshire pudding, vegetablescooked OK but very bland - no butter or seasoning on etc. Reasonable Covid-19 measures in place. Service was acceptable, but not good.

Lovely property, great staff, very friendly, always happy to help, the food is very nice and they were most accommodating for us with our two year old! Worth a stay or even just a visit to eat, or even the scenery for a walk!

A delightful high quality place which I enjoy going to but parking there needs to be a lot better --- especially for the disabled and even more so when there's ice on the slopes. The reception which I attended was spoiled by the thoughtless cluttering of surplus chairs. The staff should have been more attentive in this respect.

Arrived quite late but greeted by friendly staff at reception. room was lovely, quiet and bed comfy. room service was good and the hotel and grounds are stunning.

Hotel is in the middle of nowhere, the menu is extremely limited and aimed at people with an upper class tatse. All the good food items can only be ordered during the night 2130 onwards. Most of the staff are really nice though and it does have good views if your after that.

Nice place to stay. Room fine but was way too hot even at end of October. Radiators were on and tried turning them off but couldn't so had trouble sleeping as room was so hot. Service is great and dinner was okay but didn't try breakfast. Will stay there again as it's a lovely hotel besides the hot room.

Fantastic hotel in a beautiful setting surrounded by natural beauty. The facilities are clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. Gorgeous afternoon tea. A variety of choices for breakfast. Fantastic.

I am extremely disappointed in the service provided by Stanton house on a Sunday. No staff anywhere, leaving gravy stained cooks to pour drinks, slow and limited service when we received any and not adequately staffed for an event in the first pleace, for a baby shower. Extremely costly afternoon tea that was not to even the basic standard. Myself and all those at the event will not be going back or will not be recommending Stanton house to anyone.

Lovely Hotel, although rooms a little tired. Meals were very good in the restaurant. Breakfast was average and seemed to be warmed up rather than fresh. Staff seemed rushed off there feet. Hotel grounds were lovely and some great walks around the area.
