Conveniently nestled on the edge of the Cotswolds', our location offers the perfect location to explore the surrounding countryside and attractions. We are very popular location for walkers and cyclists, and five minutes from the Cotswold water park, offering a range of outdoor options. Cirencester, the ancient Roman capital is six miles away, with its' busy street cafe culture, minster and array of local traders. Easily commutable are the beautiful locations of Bibury with its' trout farm, The Slaughters, Stow on the Wold, Malmesbury and Tetbury.
On the edge of the Cotswolds, Cricklade & Spa was originally built around 1920 as a private house for Major Methuen and extended with all the building materials from Hammond's garage. All of our 45 bedrooms are en-suite, with colour television, hair dryers, trouser press, direct dial telephone, tea and coffee making facilities.
With countryside at our core, we source ingredients locally where we can to reduce food miles and pollution. Our Terrace bar, overlooking the 1st hole on the golf course, is the perfect place to enjoy socialising outside whilst taking in the panoramic views we have to offer. With over 100 gins and whiskies in stock, an extensive wine list, as well as a fantastic selection of tea from Born Wild, it is the perfect setting to indulge.
As you would expect from our countryside location, we have a number of activities for you to enjoy during your stay, or perhaps the reason why you want to stay. Along with our newly refurbished Fritillary Spa, we have a popular nine-hole golf course, tennis court, and a state of the art Petangue court!

Popped in for a bite to eat on the way home from visiting friends, as it was about 4pm we were not sure if we would get anything. When we went in there was a wedding going on which looked great. We had no trouble getting food even though they were busy. The food and service was excellent. So glad we stopped there.

We went for Afternoon Tea today as a treat. Was not what I expected, as I have been there before for Afternoon Tea and it was amazing. But this time I was disappointed. Sandwiches were dry, Scones were hard and dry and did not resemble a scone at all, more like a rock cake, 2 Scones each per person was to much, the selection of cakes on the top tier were okay, but most of of the centres had melted, and the carrot cake was dry.
The coffee should have come in a cafetiere, so we didn't have to keep asking the waitress for coffee, and water should have been provided on the table. Another party was there for Afternoon Tea, who had also complained. The staff were great and took are complaints to the chef. They did take off one of the Afternoon Teas off the bill which was a kind gesture. Will not be returning.

Booked with a friend for a much needed pampering getaway and sadly it didn't live up to expectations. The hotel's website makes it look much smarter than it actually is. In reality it's extremely dated, shabby and poorly maintained. The toilets in the reception area are disgusting, dirt and dust piled up behind the toilet, broken and dented pedal bin, worse than you'd expect in an old pub.
Paint is flaking off everywhere, the decor is outdated and very random. Our room was the biggest disappointment though - for 170 a night we expected some thoughtful details, decent beds, quality bathroom, but unfortunately it felt more like staying in a hostel than a 3 star hotel. No curtains in the room, just cheap Venetian blinds that don't close properly so don't block any light.
Rock hard lumpy beds. No socket within reach of the kettle so it had to go on the floor to boil it. One small bottle of water and one small sparkling between two people, with plastic cups. Bathroom was awful - nasty brown tiles, flaking ceiling, basin taps that were full of air pockets so exploded whenever you turn them on. Tiny plastic shower head, no extractor fan.
I didn't take any shampoo, shower gel or moisturiser as I expected at that price the hotel would provide some decent complimentary toiletries in the bathroom, but there was one tiny tube of shower gel, one tiny tube of shampoo and a small bar of soap, for two people. Not even nice products. Considering we had booked a "spa bedroom" we would have thought there would at least be some thought put into the shower and toiletries.
The spa itself was ok, the treatment we had was lovely if a bit overpriced, but the pool was cold and the windows were filthy. Not somewhere you'd want to lounge by the pool with a book after your swim! Dinner was also ok, but nothing spectacular. Breakfast was very disappointing as there was no cooked option, just continental self serve buffet with bits of mould on some of the bread by the toasters.
Again for 170 B&B I would have expected a breakfast menu. I overheard someone ask the waitress for another cup of coffee and was told that he'd have to go and order it and pay for it at the bar. The only redeeming feature is the view from the terrace, which is why I've given 2 stars instead of just one. We very nearly turned back round and looked for somewhere else to stay when we arrived, but stayed simply because it was easier. I would have been happy to pay 80-90 for our room with breakfast. Not 170. It needs a full refurb and bringing into the 21st century.

Rooms and hotel was clean, staff very friendly, Only thing stopping me from giving a 5* is no blind in our room ( or though we was asked if we would like to move rooms) and the beds they are small double and not comfortable. Apart from that out stay was great, the bar area had a lot of 70s 80s furniture and you will never be cold the rooms have good heating.

Nice hotel. The rooms are a little old style, but clean. We were not so kuch impressed by the rooms. However, there is a nice swimming pool and gymn area. We were lucky to be off season and had the whole pool for ourselves. The restaurant was brilliant, though. It does cost extra but for a decent price (10 for breakfast, 30 for 3 course dinner menu, as of 2022). The food is excellent and the quality of food is very good.

We had an appointment booked for 3 months to view this venue for our wedding day. 1 hour before the appointment they called us to cancel as they were too busy to see us that day, we refused to cancel after both taking the day off work to view the venue. It wasn't the fact they were too busy they were renovating and couldn't show us the ballroom for junk piled up in it.
The ballroom was dark and smelt very damp and just very depressing, the reception area was filthy, the window was covered in dead bugs and dust, the waiting area sofa was so old that it permanently had dips in the cushions and again covered in dust. We were then sat down to discuss prices with the wedding coordinator and the whole appointment was finished in 16 minutes.
All other wedding venues we have viewed we had at least an hour, offered a drink on arrival and were a lot more accommodating and welcoming, we will never be stepping foot in this place again.
