Lying on the western hills of the Pennines where Derbyshire and Cheshire meet, Mellor is an interesting mixture of moorland and parkland golf. Magnificent views across the Cheshire plain and Derbyshire hills serve as a backdrop for a course to test the skills of all golfers at all levels. The opening holes although not long provide an immediate examination of shotmaking ability and are set amongst mixed woodland including oak and elegant silver birch.Holes seven to twelve now assume the true moorland character and the golfer who plays to his handicap on these challenging holes will be well satisfied.

Elaine is a fantastic hostess. The room was perfect for us. We had everything we needed. The breakfast was amazing. So much choice and the cooked elements were of really high quality. We will definitely be back! We stayed in room 3. Mum and child. Twin room. Good size and handy ensuite shower / toilet. Can recommend the Dolce Vita Italia restaurant in Marple.

We have stayed here twice in the past & found Kevin to be the perfect host. How people who have never stayed there can comment on the Springfield based on a TV program says more about them than it does about Kevin. How would they like their business run down by people who have not used it? The room was perfect for our needs & the breakfast more than adequate & cooked exactly to our liking. Kevin even offered to give us a lift to a local club as it was raining.
We plan on staying again in the near future as soon as the current situation eases and the Springfield will definitely be our first choice in the area. My advice to anyone thinking of staying here? Read reviews of customers & not sad couch potatoes.

I stayed at the Springfield whilst on a cycling tour, and I am disappointed that a large number of negative posts are based on viewing a cleverley edited TV show, and not from personal experience. Although I only stayed 1 night, I found the hosts friendly, the rooms adequate, and breakfast set me up for a day in the saddle. I

Awful experience. Noise outside was terribly holocaustic. Owner was incredibly rude and unbearably dull. Room was sterile and had a sense of deadness to it. Toast was badly burned and asked for fresh mushrooms and was lied to and provided with tinned. Not even worth half the asking price. Avoid Marple like the plague.
