Very dated hotel, we stayed in a suite that felt like like it hadn't been decorated since Victoria herself last visited. We requested champagne in the room as a treat to ourselves but that never happened. I would also not recommend if you're taller than 5 foot 8 as you won't get under the shower. There is lots of potential but 0 character despite the history.

We stayed overnight following a tour of vine yard 15 minutes drive away. I haven't seen Hastings for more than 50 years. It was good to come back. The hotel looks Victorian grand, right on the sea front, with the added bonus of free parking immediately outside. The double room was spacious. Breakfast was excellent. It was eat as much as you wanted. A good full English. I didn't get to visit the Piano Bar, with its sea view. Oh well! Nexttime

The glorious days of this establishment are gone long time ago. all you can see and experience now is depressingly run down place, with dull rooms, dirty windows. even the paintings of the past royals on the corridor walls look somewhat embarrassed to be hanging there. This hotel needs s serious makeover and a new management. It has everything-gorgeous building, that needs a serious renovation, the sea view (covered by awful curtains), one thing is missing though-a good management that would appreciate and love this place.

Stayed here 2 nights. Had a lovely room on the top floor with views of the sea. Somewhat dated as it's an old hotel but comfortable beds, nice bathroom, separate dressing room and excellent WiFi so no complaints. Breakfast was plentiful and varied - probably ate too much. Easy 10 minute walk from Warrior Square station and good walks all along the promenade.

The room was dirty, the carpet had worn away, the ceiling paper was falling down, the bathroom was falling apart and rusty. The room was hot the windows just about opened! The furniture was dated at best! Put it like this your nan would think it's modern! There is only 1 lift that the cleaners think they have priority over the guest! The common areas look like they are never cleaned!
The lift was not cleaned once in the 4days I was there! The maintenance man is rude. I was in the lift with my family he tried to come in even thou the covid rules at the hotel say not to then was rude about it! I would never stay again no one cared it's a joke!

Had afternoon tea, the lunch was superb, and it was good value for money. sandwiches were very fresh, and there was a good verity of cakes + scones, with cream and jam, had numerous pots of tea, 3 in-fact. The staff were very friendly and helpful, so much so we have booked for another afternoon tea. I would highly recommend a visit especially for the afternoon tea

What an amazing place! It's like stepping back in time with all mod cons. Had a massive room overlooking the sea on New Year's Eve. Breakfast included (lovely). Had set evening meal which was beautiful and well priced. Staff were so friendly and lovely. There was live music which, sadly, we missed most of as we arrived late. The room was spotless. My only criticism is most hotels nowadays have king size beds and this was just a double in a huge room. But this is just my preference rather than a complaint.

Arrived New Years Eve having booked and received confirmation 2 weeks previously. Reception could find no record of our reservation. Was then very dismissive of us when we told her we had booked via email: "We don't do email bookings. Only Hotel.com or online" When she was shown the confirmation email of our booking she simply said "I'll have to speak to someone". Asked if they had a room available for us, was evasive saying "We're tight", and simply suggested we wait for 15 minutes. Nothing further happened so we had to go and find a room elsewhere. No apology. No concern for what could have been a ruined NYE. Awful experience!

A warm welcome is not an option with this hotel. Staff almost irritated by your presence. Tired old suite with sea view and plenty of sea air through the poorly fitting windows. Parking although promised is a lottery and breakfast tasted like it had been cooking all night. However suite was clean and not all the staff hated the guests.

Faded grandeur, great staff. Our bed was a standard double, far too small! Good breakfast, good quality ingredients, lots of choice, coffee is a bit grim, had to pick a time for it, but that's fine. Bit shabby, but clean, plenty of hot water. We had dinner there one night and it was great, good service (swapped the mash for potatoes), great flavours, good value.
