Where to start? On arrival, the reception desk looks looks a dumping ground for everything that nobody knows what to do with. When we arrived, a member of staff (who was very pleasant and helpful) was folding napkins on the reception counter. Although, it's difficult to tell staff from guests, as none of them wear uniform or name badges. Our room was large with a very comfortable bed and a partly refurbished bathroom - but, that's where the positives end. Windows were dirty, with peeling paint. Curtains hanging off the rails.
Light fittings hanging off the wall and housekeeping staff trying to enter your room without knocking! In the evening the bar was unattended with a bucket and cleaning materials on it. We actually witnessed another couple calling; "Hellooo, is there anybody there?" Luckily we'd already had a nice meal and drinks in the village. Breakfast was quite a sad event, with no indication of what was slowly dying under lidded food warmers.
Once you had selected something, it was then a walk through a room, down a corridor and into another room, where you could then eat. We found this out from another guest, as no-one was there to help. It just seems like the place had been taken over, had a makeover but, once the money had been spent - left to deteriorate. In summary, no way is this a 4 Star.
Book the Quorndon Fox (same price) and eat and drink in the village - the bars / bistros are amazing! To the owners - If you do two things, for the love of God, get a window cleaner in and employ a handyman. It would make all the difference!

Extremely disappointed of the tired looking outside of the property especially in the separate block! Weeds - no pots or flowers, but it was the state of the windows that did it for me! Not only were they filthy the paintwork was to be desired also. The dining room carpet was old & stained and the reception desk was a tip! And you have 2 weddings there this jubilee weekend! Seriously. get yourself sorted!

We stayed for the Murder Mystery event and we really enjoyed ourselves. It was the first time we had done something like this. The hotel is in a perfect location, just a short walk to the bars and restaurants. Our room was basic but absolutely fine for us, no complaints. We would like to stay here again.

Dreadful Hotel. No way is this a 4 star. Bathroom had the most horrendous noisy fan and mould on tiles and a dirty shower curtain, needs a revamp. Hotel in desperate need of some love and attention, surely during covid this was to time to paint! Breakfast was appalling, cold coffee from a big water boiler, not enough cooked food available, squashed pastries which had no appeal. Table not cleaned between customers- very rude staff " too busy to help" - not my problem when you are actually employed by the hotel. Definitely not worth a visit.

We stayed 15th and 16th April for my daughters wedding. The hotel is a lovely mix of old world and new. The wedding was in the orangery and the reception in the large function room next to it. We had a few children with us and the hotel staff were brilliant with them. I would give special mention to Jayden and Paige who were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. jamie was a hero getting rid of a huge spider too. Thank you for making the weekend special.
