The Yewdale Hotel is a situated in the centre of Coniston and therefore central for the scenic delights of the Lake District. Built of local stone and slate in 1896, it was once part guest house and part bank. Eight centrally heated bedrooms with en suite, tv and tea-making facilities, provide comfortable, restful accommodation, and an excellent Cumbrian breakfast starts the day.

Service very slow. I appreciate hospitality are finding it hard to employ staff, but there seemed to be staff, tables had not been cleared and took my husband nearly 10 minutes to get served at the bar. Food not great. Menu very basic usual pub food with pizza menu. We both had the Cumberland sausage with mash gravy and maple roasted vegetables. Sausage was good proper sausage, a big pile of mashed potato although not sure if it was proper mash but the maple roast potatoes awful, don't think they had seen the inside of an oven and certainly had not been roasted if they had seen the inside of an oven with maple syrup.
I had 3 small pieces of carrot and some turnip. Gravy tasted lovely and there was plenty of it, a little disappointing since it cost 15.00. The couple at the next table had pizzas, now they did look and smell good, so my advice would be stick with pizza if you visit here. Coniston is a lovely village.

Went there for drinks and food following a walk up the mountain and the copper mines, the Heineken was awful they had no cider apart from Apple. The food was below average and the pizza were a complete waste of time. Worst pizza I've have ever eaten. The menu is very limited, would def not visit again if I'm in the area and will def be spending my hard earned money in a proper Lake District good old fashioned pub. Felt like asking for a refund but just wanted to toe out of there ASAP.

Stayed for 4 nights and really enjoyed our time. Fantastic location for walking with a really good breakfast each morning. All the staff were great, really welcoming and friendly and felt like they really looked after us. The food in the evenings was really good with a great playlist of music to go with it. The Sunday roast was great followed by a pub quiz which was good fun too. Overall couldn't fault our stay and really hope we have the opportunity to go again soon!

Pleasant friendly bar staff. This pub is now part of a chain, linked to The Flying Fleece and the Tapyard in Ambleside (and others). It hasn't changed much from the previously owned 'Yewdale'. The beer was very good and we found that it was the cheapest in Coniston. Well done team. We would definitely go back here.
