The hotel takes it's name from Tamworth's most renowned adopted son, Sir Robert Peel - the 19th Century statesman, Prime Minister, and founder of The Metropolitan Police - who was a member of Parliament for Tamworth from 1834-5 and 1841-6. The Peel Hotel is owned and managed by the Gill family, drawing on over thirty years of experience in the catering, hospitality and hotel trades. Our aim is to make your stay as comfortable as possible, combining a good standard of accommodation, a high quality, regularly changing menu and a well stocked bar.

This is a comfortable hotel with friendly, helpful staff, well furnished rooms with good facilities and nice toiletries. The breakfast was excellent, plenty of options to choose from. The only downside for me was the outside access to our room up a metal staircase.not easily negotiable when dressed up for an evening function on a frosty night. Will ask for an inside or ground floor room next visit.

I enjoyed my weekend stay and despite being close to the town, it is still quiet at night for peacefull sleeping. Personally the bed was to hard for me, but some prefer it like that. The room was nice, maybe a tad tight for space, but wouldn't put me off staying again. The room was accessed via an external metal staircase. This was quite steep, certainly more than British standard, so if you find stairs a bit of a struggle, I would ask for a ground floor room, but you would, miss out on the lovely vaulted ceiling and exposed roof truss that the upper rooms have.
I found, like a lot of other places I've stayed, you are not provided with enough light by a mirror, to enable you to see for shaving or application of makeup and power points are not near enough to use a hair dryer "which is provided " in front of a mirror and this was the case here too. You would've had to pull the tall boy out and unplug the kettle or tv to be near enough to the mirror, otherwise across the other side of the room where the other power point was.
The bathroom was nice, with a bath and shower over, but I felt the handle provided for you to exit the bath was the wrong end, because if you used it to avoid slipping as you stepped over the edge of the bath and down to the floor, you found yourself negotiating the toilet pan. It would of been much better the other end of the bath. Having said that the shower was good, with enough hot water and pressure, to make it enjoyable.
More observations than criticism really. The breakfast was very nice with good service and very nice coffee. We would have liked to have eaten in the restaurant in the evening, but alas it was fully booked. So my advice would be to book well in advance, to avoid disappointment. All in all I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it. I would certainly stay again.

Fantastic value for money, spotless clean rooms, very friendly accommodating staff. Our room was cosy and we could watch the Olympics on TV. The breakfast was incredible, & very customisable. The pastries were delicious. Staff helped us get a taxi & were kind when we accidentally broke a fan! Brilliant location too, wouldn't hesitate to stay again
