Glorious position at the northern end of Crinan canal overlooking final lock and the sea. Mainly local produce especially sea food. Simply wonderful.

We visited early in the season and the place was just opening up (March 2022 as Covid restrictions were easing). We stopped off for lunch after cycling from Kilmartin. I have to say that the food was good and the young waiting staff were friendly and helpful. However when my wife tried to visit the toilet it seemed to be an issue for (what we presume) to be the owner.

She was asking her staff why customers were being allowed to use the toilet and then when caught by my wife suggested she could use the public toilets down the road (which were closed btw).

Booked and went for my OH's birthday meal. The restaurant has lovely wooden floors and made out to look like a boat. Great views from our table to the start of the crinan canal. Looks like on a better day you can sit outside but it was a bit of a damp night so happy to be inside. Food was delicious. Had the Cullen skink then scallops for mains. Both delicious.

Only issue was the bowl for the soup was a wee bit impractical. Hard to get all the soup out. Service was good. Staff were friendly. Overall an enjoyable evening. In summer the place is very busy so booking recommended.

Lets start with the minus points; lousy internet (only connection lying in bed) in the room and no warm water when I was washing my hair (a bit better the next day). But the room is great with an amazing view. Very nice bathroom too. Very clean hotel; there are even fresh flowers in the elevator. Dinner was absolutely fantastic. Staff is very friendly.

After sailing for 7 hours and in strong sea we wanted to have dinner at the restaurant of the hotel. And although there were plenty of seats we were told that everything is booked. Also in the morning we wanted to have coffee and they said they won't start the coffee machine. Very unfriendly staff. By the way we could have had dinner 24 people as we were there yachts. So the restaurant could have made more than 1500 pounds.

I have enjoyed eating and visiting this hotel for 50 years. Our lunch was lovely as always, we were a little disappointed in the size of portion, the use of frozen chips and lack of peas or salad. We fully appreciate the loss of revenue but it was just not what we have grown to expect. The other dishes the family had were were lovely too. Others found trying to find way in a bit confusing but early days for opening up again.

Nice big bed and decent-sized room with a wonderful view from the bay window. The staff were very friendly - particularly in the Seafood Bar restaurant and at breakfast. We enjoyed watching the boats pass through the canal lock. Some of the decoration would do with being refreshed. Our shower also leaked on to the floor.

One of the most charming places to ever stay. A lovely family owns this hotel and they've created an extremely cozy environment, not to mention there are beautiful views from every angle of this hotel. One of the owners, Frances, is also a beautiful artist and creates gorgeous paintings, you will NEED to check them out when visiting. She also has a beautiful path behind the hotel that will lead you up to her garden that she maintains herself. It's so fun that this hotel has a bar downstairs and a restaurant at the other end, I even believe there is an ice cream shop a few steps away outside. Everything you need is here for a relaxing getaway. We cannot wait to go back someday.

To be frank, this is one of my favorite places on earth. Nick and his family are great hosts, and the food and atmosphere are wonderful. I haven't been there now in some time, but deeply miss the place and fantastic views of the Lock and the surrounding Argyll countryside. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!
