The Marton Hotel & Country Club dates back to the early 1900's; it was formerly a Victorian House standing impressively in its own grounds. It later became The Captain Cook Private Members Club. The Marton Hotel and Country Club stands most prominently on the A172 Stokesley Road. There are numerous places of interest easily accessible from the Marton Hotel which has direct easy routes to the extensive North East Coast. For instance, you can visit TV's 'Heartbeat' country or the North York Moors steam railway or perhaps Dracula's Whitby. All are about a 30 minute car ride to the South.

Rather unfriendly staff room is clean and tidy could be improved by a lick of paint and some modernisation. Very noisy due to the walls being very thin you hear the people in the other room talking, using the toilet and even plugging something in to a socket. Breakfast is not something to enjoy cold bacon burnt sausage.

Hotel is undergoing maintenance, so the rooms are dated, but amazing value for money. The staff are friendly, the included breakfast is excellent. Beds comfortable and there's plenty of free parking, close to main commuting roads. Dont expect the Ritz because you're not paying that much. So expect good service and a nice nights sleep

Staying for one night only.staff upon arrival very friendly and so was the bar staff.ordered food and was waiting too long and very enjoyable. Building looks dated both inside and out and some landscaping needed.rooms are also dated but serves purpose. Tv with freeview and Wi-Fi as well as coffee and tea (just not enough.lol). Overall was enjoyable and would recommend for the price

Cheap, but there is a reason. Staff were nice, breakfast was quite good. The rooms and the whole place are very old, tired, damp, peeling, cracking etc etc Bed covers were clean but burn holes. Smelt of stewed cabbage, its a cross of bates motel and my nans house. Saying that I would stay again, convenient for working at the hospital and for the price including breakfast I'll sleep anywhere.

I firmly believe you get what you pay for, although this hotel by far surpassed this. Yes it's a little dated, yes there are better hotels around. Although it was 30 for the night, ALL the staff were nicer than in hotels where I have paid 100 to 200 a night. I didn't have any breakfast but it looked busy and lots of people getting up for more which says a lot. Great hotel if you are looking for an easy night, Thanks for the stay!

The best thing that can be said about this hotel is that it's cheap. I have stayed here a few times when working in the centre of Middlesbrough. It is very convenient as it is only about 10 minutes away by car (even in morning traffic). The quality of the stay depends on which room you get. The rooms are a mixed bag, it seems. I have stayed in a room wit reasonable air con and a comfy bad but I have also stayed in a room with no air con, a fan and a window that didn't open properly and a bed that creaked really loudly.
This place is looking a little rough around the edges and the staff seem to be feeling a bit fed up of it - as you can hear when sitting eating your breakfast when the staff discuss it in ear-shot. My last stay here was about 6 months ago now and so I hope things have changed a little.
