Shower was scolding and the bath was dirty. There was also no shampoo in the dispenser, which was broken. I was not offered a breakfast box, maybe they had ran out by this point. The reception service was very good and the location was very convenient. I would probably stay again but in a different room. A tad pricy.

Was once a very nice, small hotel. Management started to change things a few years back, including the breakfast offering which changed to a very basic hot buffet (if you didn't like coddled eggs, bacon and beans, then there was only cereal, toast and fruit). I understand this was to appeal to continental tourists. I'm perplexed by that as having stayed in numerous hotels up and down the country over the last 40 years, the other chains managed to attract sizeable numbers of foreign guests, whilst continuing to offer a top notch English breakfast menu as well as continental!
Like most hotels across the country, The Manor is like a morgue now. Cold, no atmosphere because there's no people. Who ever instigated the covid hoax really should face a firing squad! I would however give 5 stars to the delightful young lady who served us dinner during the Bank Holiday weekend. The poor lass didn't stop. Manning the reception, preparing food and serving drinks all on her tod.
You have my respect and admiration madam. I only hope your employer understands the pressure you are under. Hopefully, once the pandemic scam is dead and buried, The Manor Hotel can regain some of its lost charm.

The hotel itself is a little run down and is made to look 'quaint' but really it's just old :P The bed was comfy, the staff was friendly so if you're in and out quickly this is the place. However if you have any needs this is not! It's very inaccessible to those in wheelchairs, the acoustics for those with hearing issues are horrible. I had let them know in advance I have to eat gluten free and all though all the staff tried really hard I got ill from dinner.
Over breakfast they did make me food separately but I asked for eggs and tomatoes and got sausages and bacon. Staff can't be any more helpful but they can only work within the constraints of a system that doesn't help.

Back to Best Western standards for sure. Upon check in, I was upgraded to a superior room, not only that but offered a choice of a gift bag, extra reward points or newspapers! Excellent. Bed was comfy, room was warm though and due to proximity of the motorway I couldn't have the window open. Bar was very busy, seems this is a regular thing for coach parties but I was down early enough not to be affected by it. Good food, not a bad selection of beers in the fridge. Easy check out. I'd definitely stay again.
