Room 10. For one night (sat-sun) was just over 100 through booking.com. 1. Strong unpleasant smell in the wardrobe (manager says I am sensitive. She can't smell anything) 2. The carpeted floor. (black spots alongside the edges.) 3. The toilet. I am sharing these photos for anyone who considers booking a room at this hotel as a solo traveler. Other rooms on their website or booking.com look better. But you might get this room and when pointing out about the smelly wardrobe, you will get told that you are sensitive.

Solid three-star hotel, 4-star review - awesome traditional English breakfast, walking distance to train stations, centrally located - great if you're doing a lot in SoHo! Nice staff, clean rooms - loved my little twin bed room at the landing of the staircase -- room 3 - quiet, view of courtyard - just what I needed for three nights - do wonder, however, if it's warm in the summer as there is no air-conditioning. Recommend for one person and a quick stay!

I was a single traveller for one night. I'd already read a bad review about Room 7 (they said it was smelly and had to leave) so was curious about my chances of getting 7. To my amusement I did get 7! Whatever the problem was it appeared to be rectified. There is a slight smell when you walk in but this is an old building and this is a tiny room with a loo, sink and shower.
After 10 seconds I couldn't smell anything. The room is TINY but cleverly designed with a bed and shelves, hangers and a mirror. Even a shelf for tea and biscuits. Perfect. The en-suite is showing signs of wear and tear (owners, give it a bit of TLC this winter) but it was modern, functional and clean. Bedding was on the cheap side but I was staying just one night so not a problem for me.
I had to leave before breakfast so I can't comment on that. The decor in the hall and front room is chintzy but felt warm and cozy. I'll be back when I need a night to lay my head after a work party or shifts. Thank you.

We really liked this hotel. It's in a great location, within easy access of most of best parts of London. It's very quiet for a central London hotel, our kids slept later than at home Our room 1a in the basement was a very good size for city centre, if I compare to Paris for example. Despite the basement there was still natural light Very clean, great breakfast and friendly staff who helped with everything were asked

We received a very nice welcome and the staff was great and very helpful but. the room was a definitely not as other guests describe it in their reviews (room 15). We probably got one of the room that didn't go through a refurbishment since a long while. The toilet didn't work (but was fixed on day 2) The bathroom was very old and stink extreme mold The bed mattress was very skewed The overall room could use a facelift. Aging wallpaper and missing fixtures all around. Also we could only locate one power outlet making it hard for a couple to use.

This is a very well run and reasonably priced hotel in London, about 15-20 minutes on foot from Leicester Square. The rooms are basic and small, but are just what you could need and nothing extra. The restrooms are a little cramped as well, but there is just enough room to move around. The only inconvenience due to the small size of the rooms would be there is no place to put your bags.
I would recommend they install some sort of ventilation for the rooms as they get steamy and warm after a shower, even in the winter. The breakfast was excellent and very complete, anything they didn't have out the staff would make for you on request. They had eggs, smoked salmon, crumpets, toast, fruit, ham, cheese, coffee and tea. I'm sure im leaving out some breakfast items.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful at all times and I commend the level of their hospitality. I would not hesitate to stay again and would recommend to others on a budget.

Very nice, small hotel perfectly located in London! The price was absolutely fair for my little room in the upper floor. Unfortunately there is no lift! The room was small but very nicely equipped! The close proximity to the British Museum was perfect! Definitely a high recommendation when you are in London!

Rooms are clean and well designed, but really very small. Very handy location. Fine if you're only staying for one night. Nice toiletries and good shower. Good little garden in the back which is well maintained. No air con and the fan is quite noisy. The curtains don't really work and it's a bit complicated to get them to close. I would have expected breakfast included for the price, and thought it had been, but they wanted to charge 9.95 for it so I just went to Sainsburys.

I stayed at the Arosfa Hotel for a few nights with two other friends during the Fall. We had a very nice experience. It was an excellent value for the low price we paid per night! I would definitely return to stay here. Favorite things about Arosfa: -The location is very safe and convenient. It is within walking distance of a great deal of London's sights, shops and restaurants.
It is also close to more than one tube stops. -The owners are extremely friendly and down to earth. They were happy to help us map out our routes for all of our excursions. -The rooms and hotel are extremely clean! -Daily free breakfast! Every morning, they served us an English Breakfast plate with a latte- absolutely delicious! -The hotel is beautifully decorated. Returning to the Arosfa every night added authenticity to our trip.
It didn't have a touristy feel about it whatsoever. Things to be aware of: -The rooms, bathrooms and beds are definitely small. It did not affect our trip whatsoever, but this would not be a good place for someone who needs a lot of space. -There is no air conditioning in the room, only a fan and a window. Again, this did not bother us in October, but I could see how it would be an inconvenience during the warmer months. -There are no elevators, only stairs to get to the rooms.

This hotel may look tasteful and nicely decorated when you enter the lobby, however! Don't be fooled! My mom and I stayed in a twin room meaning two twin beds and first of all two adults cannot fit in this room -- meaning we could barely fit our two carry on suitcases and move around at the same time. The beds though-- that's what needs to be talked about.
The bed feels like a trampoline it's absolutely UN-SLEEPABLE. And this is coming from someone who camps and has stayed in several low budget hostels all over Europe. The bed was an absolute joke. It kept rolling away from the wall (Because it's on wheels) and its smaller than an American version of a twin bed. I felt like I was going to bounce off of it.
And I am a normal weight 5'3 female. Also we tried to call reception to see if anything could be done, only to find out reception closes at 10:30pm! Meaning There is absolutely no staff available to anyone after 10:30pm! What if an actual emergency happened is what I think about. What if someone got locked out? They would literally be unable to contact anyone. Anyway--not worth 150 British pounds per night (around $217/night).

When my parents visited me in London they always stayed at Arosfa. The rooms are very, let's say, compact. In a neighbourhood like Bloomsbury where space is such a premium this is the norm, not an exception. What they don't have in space, however, the Arosfa chaps make up in friendliness, cleanliness, location, service, breakfast and some more. Oftentimes in London big hotels lack a personal touch and some smaller ones have the misfortune of a surly owner.
The family that runs Arosfa are instead two of the friendliest people I've ever met. They will give you very trustworthy advice on whichever topic you may need. Arosfa has the feel of the friendly neighbourhood guest house, unsullied by commercial honogenisation. I think it's definitely worth a stay if you want to be less of a tourist and more of a Londoner, even if slightly wannabe.

If you're looking for a good budget hotel in a great central location, arosfa fits the bill. I was able to get a double twin room for 104 pounds per night. It's located right next to UCL - so there are lots of good options for food and local shopping. Gower St and Tottenham Road Court tube stops are nearby. Rooms are small and clean and neat. Bathrooms even smaller - the shower is the bathroom.
Hot water wasn't working well, but the rooms are well stocked with a hair dryer, snacks, electric tea pot, tea/coffee, free wifi that works well and a TV with cable. There is a nice lounge with a public computer and books. Free english breakfast every morning from 7:30-9AM. Small portions, but a good start to the morning - egg, sausage, roasted half tomato, beans, and a pot of english breakfast tea.
They also have cereal, pastries and juice for those looking for something less greasy. Agree with Rich - the rooms on Gower St are noisy even in the late evening. If you're jet lagged and wake up early - then you'll hear the noises of large truck barreling down the street. Staff is friendly and helpful. One even offered to loan me his umbrella for an unexpected rainy day!
