The positives: great location for central Croydon, staff friendly, and providing you have no dietary needs breakfast is provided including hot options. Mattresses and broken furniture outside entrance not best start or the rubbish strewn car park including glass. Room was small with a window that wouldn't stay open (no fan) but couldn't be locked either. Tiny TV high on wall, no bulb in lamp and bed hard. Bathroom shelves, toilet roll holder, towel rail sinced removed and no extraction fan.

I was here for one day and before I booked I checked the reviews of this place so I knew what I was expecting. The staff I spoke to were polite. I had freeview TV and the signal was good. I booked 1 night for a single bed room and the bed was comfy and the sheets, duvet and pillow cases were clean. The shower had no hot water though. The wallpaper in the room I was staying was peeling off, which me personally I was not bothered but this was just because I was staying for one day.
Throughout the night when trying to sleep, I could hear a scratching noise, honestly I think it sounded like mice through the walls, whatever it was it was a slight inconvenience when trying to sleep. Also the curtain in the bathroom had a strange brown stain, so I stayed away from that. Lastly when you enter, there is a smell that I'm unsure of what it was, but it's not a pleasant smell.
I'd only recommend this place as a last resort, 1 day was fine for me but I don't think I would have been able to stay longer. Just a 5 minute bus away and there are much better quality hotels in East Croydon that you could go to.

Awful place. Filthy dirty. Stained walls. Cigarette burns on all the furniture and windows sills. Ground in dirt on the carpets. Sheets were clean and that's the only reason we didn't walk out that and we were only there for one night. Breakfast was included but the was no way on earth we were staying for that.

Horrible hotel. Stayed over for one night as I was doing work in the area. Upon entering the hotel stunk of sweat, damp and cigs. The room was in an appalling state with the wallpaper hanging off the walls and paint peeling off the windowsill and frame. The bathroom had been cleaned the bare minimum amount to be called acceptable and I was genuinely worried about showering there.
The only thing in the room that seemed like it had been cleaned was the bedding, which I was still hesitant about sleeping in. However, the worst thing about the stay was the breakfast. I ordered a "full English" which in my opinion couldn't even be described as a half English, as it was literally just bread egg and beans. I asked where the sausage and bacon was and was just told they don't serve pork.
Basic amenities were provided. Nothing notably positive about the stay in the slightest, marginally better than sleeping in the streets. The management must be terrified of spending money on doing up the place.

I've never been so shocked or scared to walk in a place such as this one. The greeting at the main reception was a little miss leading as he didn't know our names. The decor in the longue area was very outdated the threadbare, the whole hotel had a very strange smell about the place. I made it to the room only to find a cockroach insect catcher on the floor and it did I dead have insects and watch looked to be a cockroach trapped the wallpaper was falling off the walls with no help at all, and the whole room was mouldy in most parts the bed was showing real signs of its age with springs showing and the towels were just the same. We stayed approximately 3mins before checking out

Hygiene was not up to standards, when entering the bathroom there was hair in the shower area. We asked the worker to clean it for us but he refused to so we demanded a refund which was given. It was disgusting the sink wasn't in the bathroom it was on in the room opposite the bed. disgusting wouldn't recommend it.

I work away regularly and in doing so frequent many hotels and b&b's. The Kirkdale is up there with the best of them. The location is perfect. Just 2 minute walk from shops and restaurants. Parks nearby ideal for joggers like myself. The breakfast is satisfactory. The room we stayed in was more than sufficient for the 2 of us.

Wow I have no words, this hotel is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, in my entire life. It's took me almost 3months to write a review as I'm still traumatised from my experience. How this place is still open is completely beyond me. Apart from no furniture and doors that actually work, no heating also disgusting my best of the stay was leaving. Disgusting place and needs shutting down ASAP. Do not book! Expensive too. I'd have preferred to sleep on the street!
