It reminded us of The Shining movie, food was good and big portions unfortunately in need of restoration and a deep musky smell especially from the bathroom which I can only put down to water getting under tiles etc. Fish tank in reception is empty and giving off a stench which is unbearable.

The finest welcome was awaiting us at this establishment, our room was a very fine size with amazing views, food in the restaurant was served with a smile and the public bar was great to enjoy a beer or two. Breakfast was good, we enjoyed our short stay.

Difficult to comment.welcome warm and friendly. Room ok. Bathroom not as clean as should be.wouldn't use toothbrush holder.extractor fan not working. Dinner was good; both had scampi. Windows needed cleaned. Sarah served us well. With a bit of tlc this could be a super hotel.

Don't judge a book by its cover? Admittedly quite a worry when you see the tired old building. However Staff great, super friendly, restaurant food very good, views from in the hotel outside were Epic. Bar is an excellent local bar with great atmosphere & characters. A great experience, Don't be put of by 1st appearances & an empty fish tank in the lobby you would miss out. Do have a drink or 2 in the bar & enjoy the food & epic views

We stayed here for 1 night in April whilst we were doing the NC500. We found the staff very friendly, and welcoming. The food was amazing. The view from the hotel is breathtaking. This really is a hidden gem of a hotel and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Hotel was fantastic, do not listen to the bad reviews on google! It is super easy to find, staff are the friendliest people the food is great breakfast & dinner. Bar area gives social club vibes and the decor is slightly old but nothing is missing, broken or mouldy. The social club vibe gives the hotel character. Rooms are massive, shower was warm and the bed was comfy! Would highly recommend this as a stay for the views out the window alone. We also had our dog with us who was treated fantastically!

Great little hotel on the hill. Owners and staff were amazing, the lady that checked us in was super chatty and lovely. I'd say this hotel is rustic, big dining room and bar area with stove fire keeping it warm. Room large, lots of space and did the job perfectly. sadly the mattresses are thin and spent the night feeling the springs digging Into us.

Not a great sleep. The food however is amazing! Food blew me away, starters are large in sizes and main meals were great. Amazing portion sizes, well made and very very tasty! 10/10 for food all day long! We would visit again, enjoy my time in the bar with the locals for a drink.

Given how remote this location is, the hotel is a good bet for a non-picky traveller. Sure the rooms don't quite look, feel or smell like at The Ritz but this family run place is warm and welcoming. Good hearty and fresh breakfast are a sure positive. Tip- Keep your expectations low and this place will surprise you positively

Good views if you are lucky to have a room facing the right way. Clean & friendly, warm, with decor, furnishings & plumbing from the 70s? Also, beware the LED bedside lights - blinding. Tea & coffee good, amazing selection of biscuits. Breakfast was freshly cooked, but dinner, apart from freshly fried fish (& chips) seemed to be a lot of bought-in Brakes Bros type food so slightly disappointing. Go for a warm welcome, nice people, & a clean bed.
