Being family run means we can be incredibly flexible - so whatever it is you dream of, try us! Our venue itself, though beautiful and lovingly crafted, is merely bricks, mortar & oak, lurking inside is what's really important! You find a devoted gang of individuals who, as a team, are totally focused and very much excited about delivering a memorable experience for our guests.
We're super proud that everything on our Menus' is made from scratch onsite, often using fresh fruit and herbs grown in our working kitchen garden, that you're welcome to wander around at your leisure. The interior is a blend of traditional brickwork, beams and quarry tiles with herbs from the garden hanging from the ceiling and richly coloured patchwork leaded lanterns.
There's always 2 different types of Beef (including our famous Rib of Beef), a Pork, Chicken & Fish dish, occasionally Lamb, Vegetarians and Vegan options as well as any dietary requirements catered for (a heads up is always appreciated so we can have your available choices ready for you). We got married here on Good Friday and both the lead-up and actual wedding day were run expertly by Gem and the team looking after us on the day. Staff are a credit to the business and there we've had many of our guests comment on the fantastic food and running of the day. We will continue to revisit the restaurant as a married couple!

Stayed here as guests for a friend's wedding. This was the venue, fantastic country pub vibe with loads of character. The setup for the wedding was great, we had a lovely day. Food was excellent both for wedding meal and breakfast the next morning. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Our room, whilst small, it was very clean and comfy hence 4 stars for rooms. I'm sure I'll be back again soon!

The food we had during our stay was very good. I also thought the value was good. We booked a superior room and knew we would have a little bit of space and luxury. We were guests at a wedding at the hotel. The superior bedroom was booked several months ago. I became concerned when a fellow guest told me the hotel wanted full payment and there were no refunds I decided to call the hotel.
I was informed we didn't have the room we had booked and in fact were given the smallest bedroom and no larger bed. I was also told that there was no refund despite a refund on cancellation was advertised with their booking agencies. We had no alternative but to use the room. The space between the walls and the bed was so narrow we had to edge sideways to get to the bed and the ensuite. I will not return to the hotel and would recommend that all bookings are confirmed with what is ordered.

What a lovely venue and incredible staff. We had the pleasure of providing live music here for a wedding and everything was seamless from start to finish. Everyone at the venue went out of their way to ensure everything looked and sounded fantastic, as well as being flexible with us on timings and more. Thanks so much, we can't wait to come back!

Not food related, but just a review on the amazing staff who went above and beyond to help me out today! There was a member of staff, didn't get his name, who helped me out when my car broke down outside, even when he didn't need to! Thanks to him I got back to my family a lot sooner than anticipated and was quickly out of the rain! Thank you for going above and beyond!

Just go here. I've already been moved to post about this place but an actual review is a modern necessity. The service was excellent: warm and welcoming, familial but not over familiar. We had a Sunday roast and it was like all the good bits of going to your gran for Sunday dinner but without the awkward bits*. And in a pub. It has lovely gardens, more so than you'd expect.
Some of what you eat was grown on site. They make elderflower cordial that's like the nectar of the gods. The decor's pretty good too: thoughtfully artistic touches and dried flowers hanging from the ceilings. Fancy but not up itself, if you see what I mean. It was deemed worth a trip from London for some of our party, so if you're closer you have literally no excuse not to go. Just go. *Surely that wasn't just my family?

My husband and I had our first date at The Hundred House and we were so happy when we were able to book our wedding here! From our first appointment to the big day, we have had the most fabulous service and we could not be more thankful to have worked with such wonderful people! The venue is beautiful and I had a vision on how I wanted everything. to look.
Both Jo and Gem were very attentive and made sure I had everything I needed. They made us feel so excited at every meeting and answered any and all questions we had. They were very knowledgeable, accommodating, and reassuring, especially as we started planning during the midst of COVID restrictions, lockdowns and various changes during the.

Brought my friend here as a belated Birthday dinner, I've driven past it so many times, and heard it talked about so often- I thought it was finally time to actually have some food here. It's exactly my kind of decor, dark, homely, rustic, kind of scottish castle feel-y, which is what I aim for in any property. It was quite quiet- but on a simultaneous Tuesday off, I wasn't particularly surprised.
The staff were lovely, two quite attentive waiters. Rosemary olives were lovely to start, and gorgeous warm bread. Both of us went for the duck, jus, charred broccoli and game crisps. I honestly could have eaten it all day, perfectly balanced, perfectly cooked and rich without feeling too heavy. My friend is weird, and hates vegetables, which usually concerns the maternal nag in me, but today I didn't care when it meant bonus broccoli. I will definitely come back again, I can completely see why people get married here- I would just for the food, never mind a bedroom swing!

Slightly slow service at the bar was no indication of the excellent meal that was to follow. Oysters, smoked salmon blinis, moules and escabeche of haddock and prawns were all pronounced good starters. For mains, sea bass, loin of venison and salt cod were all received with praise and the treacle tart and custard for dessert was very good. With two bottles of wine and three beers the bill was 210 for four. An enjoyable evening in pleasant surroundings and good value for money.

I cant vouch for the hotel rooms here as I have never stayed, but the food is exceptional and this place has a very good reputation for serving great, seasonal and local food. Frequently the recipients of glowing reviews in the local press, this place is well worth a visit. I have eaten sunday lunch there a number of times which is always delicious and from the a la carte menu for special occasions.
It is quite pricey for some dishes but you get what you pay for, the quality of the food is high. The interior has a lovely, cosy atmosphere and the service is always good, it is advisable to book in advance.
