In 1757 George Goodwin (1719-1773) of Coalbrookdale, Madeley a Master Collier and partner in The Madeley Wood Company agreed to pay 250 in building a dwelling house and other convenience with a garden on the upper part of a meadow. Goodwin covenanted to maintain the house when it was built. The land was owned by Samuel Sprott of Ludlow, Doctor in Physic.
The Chez Maw Restaurant with its beautiful outlook on to the hotel gardens provides a delightful setting for smaller parties for up to 50 guests for daytime receptions and ceremonies. The adjacent bar area open out on to the hotel terrace, where reception drinks can be served whilst enjoying the fantastic views of the Ironbridge Gorge.
Our beautiful Victorian style gazebo situated on the terrace of the hotel, offers a truly romantic setting for couples to confirm their commitment to each other. On a beautiful spring or summer's day this is the perfect setting for your wedding civil ceremony and will certainly prove to be a unique talking point amongst family and friends during the wedding breakfast!

Had our wedding here brought some of our own decorations which the staff and wedding planner did a really good job decorating the room. the staff were non evasive but there when we needed them.the wedding food was phenominial and even the breakfast the next day was great. I do feel like I should apologise as with high emotions and far to much alcohol the party was very challenging at the best of times and I would have struggled to tolerate it but the staff did so very well the DJ was also very good. All in all very happy thank you all for helping make our day so special

A great hotel, lovely clean room, very friendly staff and a covid secure breakfast which was great. We are vegetarian and veggie sausages were cooked for us. I was pleased that mask where still required to be worn in public areas. It is a 10 minute gentle, flat, easy walk to the Ironbridge. I would highly recommend this hotel.

If your looking for a wedding venue this is your place! Wow what a beautiful day! The staff were not only absolutely amazing but also lovely. The venue was immaculate. I didn't have to worry about a thing everything was done perfectly. Mel is possibly the most kind hearted, accommodating lady I have ever met. Such a lovely lady and I cannot thank her enough.
Also a shout out to Roy as he's just awesome and dealt with all my bridezilla moments. Thank you to this beautiful place and all the staff there for making our wedding and our stay amazing. Forever thankful to this place.

Ideal location for sightseeing Ironbridge and museums. Hotel is a joy. Stayed 2 nights. Rooms are clean comfortable and roomy. The biggest plus is the wonderful staff.always helpful and pleasent. The food served in the Restaurant is amazing, not an extensive menu but wow. remember to book early if you want an early sitting.it is popular. Breakfast was again quality and set us up for the day ahead. We will definitely be going back there again this year.

Stayed here for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The building has been nicely improved with features that nod to the industrial heritage of Iron Bridge and give it character. Iron Bridge itself is only a few minutes walk away. The room was a good size and very clean. The staff were friendly and relaxed which made it a comfortable stay. The area has lots to do and see. We would certainly be happy to come back again.

The hotel was in a very pretty location, well presented. The staff were all very friendly and professional and nothing easy too much trouble. The room was very clean, beds comfortable. We had no noise disturbance even though we had the window open overnight. We ate dinner and breakfast and the food was fabulous at both. We would definitely visit again if in the area and would recommend.

Good stop off if you are exploring the area and the museums, which was our principal task. Lovely grounds and good quality of stay. Some of the annex rooms make one aware of others in the hotel with footsteps from above and noise in the corridor but nothing excessive. Good quality ingredients in the breakfast and the restaurant has an excellent chef who listens to your preferences and cooks the food according to your wishes. Restaurant worth a visit. Not cheap but you get what you pay for and the cooking is excellent.
