I went here with my family to attend a friend's wedding. Everything looked beautiful, they did an amazing job and the day ran so smoothly. I have stayed over night here before and the rooms are great for the price. It is quite a compact venue. The gentleman behind the bar (think he is Spanish) was amazing. He made me and my daughter feel very comfortable as we were there on our own for a little while.

Fantastic wedding day could not find fault. Everything went perfect room decor great food best I've ever had at a wedding and the staff were all great. Sophie and Tom made everything go smooth and even if our guests wanted to find faults they couldn't the day was that good a big thank you to Sophie and Tom for making the day so special. And all done after being delayed for two years due to covid. again a massive thank you Smokies staff all made our day perfect.

Arrived to find no parking available. annoying! Had to park in a scruffy bit of land near the hotel The lift was out of order and the staff offered help with bags up the 2 flights of stairs The room was clean and the bed comfortable The shower was awful lacked any decent pressure definitely needs an upgrade Tried a bath the next day and the water was only lukewarm Very disappointing! Smokies is overpriced for what it is Breakfast should be included I would not go there again

145 for an out dated room with broken furniture, a shower that has less pressure than a watering can and needs a good scrub and paper thin walls. One of the worst nights sleep thanks to the pancake mattress and also being positioned next to the reception area so continual banging of doors and loud customers until early hours of the morning. I also ordered a double room and was given a twin which didn't start the night off well.
I can't comment on the restaurant and the bar as the prices were a little high and it was cheaper to order a deliveroo to the room. Parking was also limited and required 3 laps of the car park to find a space. Won't be staying here again.

The room was spacious and well presented. I was disappointed with the WiFi which wasn't great. The breakfast was warm at best and I wasn't impressed by the waiting staff picking up spilt cereal with bare hands and putting it back into the cereal dispenser. Sadly there is no charging points for those of us with electric powered cars and finally the loo roll is cheap and not great so take your own if you prefer good quality paper.
Staff wore face coverings apart from those in the breakfast room & I think it a shame that teabags & coffee supplies are not replenished daily. Two teabags for a 3 night stay isn't great. Apart from all that the room was very quiet and comfortable.

Had supper at the hotel restaurant, eat.@smokies. We both had the 4oz charbroiled steak dinner. I had the soup, wife had the Banoffee dessert. Service was very attentive. Wine was chilled right. The steak was cooked as ordered. The peppercorn sauce added to the steak. A very good supper to round out the evening. Two nights later: both of us had the lamb koftas with a Western Cape Shiraz. Excellent lamb, wine was very dry a good thing.

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago because myself and Mrs Z were attending the wedding of an old friend. Can't say too much about the room because I didn't see much of it whilst sober, but it was pretty comfy and quite spacious, and at 55 you can make up your own mind as to how good value for money that is. The function room where the reception was taking place was a decent size and I can imagine it being quite a popular place for weddings, birthdays, anniversarys and dog fighting (not really, everyone knows they hold them in church halls). A decent place.

Smokies, as it is locally known, is a great place to go for a drink, bar snack and to relax. The bar area is peaceful and spacious, complete with plush sofas and tv's., There is a selection of national papers available every day, it's nice to go in and relax, reading the paper with a drink. They have a cash machine and you can pay by switch - which is rare in this area!
The bar food is excellent - especially the sandwiches which are triple deckers served with fresh salad and crisps - 1 is enough between 2 but they are really excellent sandwiches. The chips are also good. Service is sporadic - the bar isn't always manned, but there is a phone on the bar which you can use to get quick service. The toilets are always spotless. This bar is open all night.

I recently attended a wedding at Smokies, and was very impressed. The hotel was an impressive 50 plus ensuite rooms and the resturant is fab, the food is beautifully cooked and well presented. They have a nightclub here also, what more could you want if you require a hotel and fancy a boogie and a good meal when Smokies is the place to go.
