Stayed here as part of a Groupon dinner, bed and breakfast rate. On approach the hotel is set amongst the country side and looks lovely from the outside with plenty of parking. Our bedroom (#42) was nestled away up the stairs and along numerous corridors. The room felt quite boxy, but for one night was manageable. The bed was firm but comfortable. En-suite shower was very good.
The view from the window was onto a flat roof. No full length mirror, only the bathroom mirror to contend with. Evening meal was fine, service was a bit hit and miss. The table we were allocated was rather dark and seated beside a couple with two dogs who kept barking and the queue for the bar. Unfortunately no other tables available to move to. Thankfully the buffet breakfast was great. Self serve drinks and food. A good selection of hot and cold items, and nicely presented.

We arrived on a Saturday for a night away celebrating an anniversary. We had to park around the back and the building wasn't as attractive from this side but the front is very attractive. The gardens appeared very well kept with some early spring flowers as well. Our room had everything we needed, was functional and the decor was very neutral. Our room looked out onto the courtyard.
There was a wedding function on so we didn't use the garden areas. There was no noise from the wedding at all. Our evening meal was in the bar, the beautiful restaurant was only used for breakfast when we were there. The lounge area was nice to relax in with a drink. Our meals were delicious with great choice as well. All in all a pleasant stay.

Lots of hotels advertise as being " dog friendly" but this was the best hotel we have stayed at whilst travelling with our dog. The lovely central location enabled us to explore a wide area. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was exceptional and meals in the bar were reasonably priced with a good varied menu. Thank you

It's a shame. This is a beautiful looking place set in peaceful countryside. The sausage & mash is excellent and they make a nice soup too. However, the room, although large and with a balcony overlooking the garden, was a bit shabby. The bathroom especially needs some attention. But the fundamental problem is the staff. Maybe they are over-worked, underpaid or just not trained for a job in the hospitality business.
They are impersonal going on rude and make one feel uncomfortable to be there. This is something the management need to address. All that said, the carpark was busy for the 2 nights I stayed, so I guess they are making money. It just could be so much better.

The hotel itself is a listed building and as such is full of character. The room we had was comfortable and the bathroom had clearly had a recent refit. The bedroom had a TV and tea making facilities. The restaurant area was warm and inviting. The food is good and the breakfast had everything you could want. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Large free car park. The Groupon deal we had made the stay even better. 10% off available at Bicester Shopping Village for those who stay with a code.

The Holt Hotel was so much better than I expected. A beautiful building with loads of parking. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. There are multiple floors and no lifts, so request a ground floor if needed. Also put friendly. The breakfast area was spacious and comfortable chairs with every breakfast you and drinks you want. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

We stayed for 2 nights for my husband's Birthday and our 17th wedding anniversary. On our arrival the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The staff went above and beyond, my dad didn't like the soup on offer and the manager went across the garage to get soup for my dad that he liked. We had an amazing meal, and a lovely surprise with a bottle of Prosecco.
After our meal we were surprised with a birthday cake for my husband and an anniversary slate and 4 nice little cakes. Definitely recommend this hotel as nothing is to much trouble for the staff here. We had a lovely stay and will definitely come back.

My daughter, baby granddaughter and I stayed one night, 11/11/2021. The historic building is lovely and all the staff were very friendly. It was slightly disappointing to find that despite advising that a baby was travelling with us at the time of booking, we had to carry baby, suitcases, pushchair, etc., up a flight of stairs, as there is no lift and apparently no porter.
I can understand the lack of lift in a listed building but a ground floor room or a little help with the luggage would have been welcome. The bathroom floor had several short, curly hairs on it, but once my daughter complained to management, this was quickly rectified and the floor swept and mopped. The bar food was excellent. We shared a baked Camembert starter with an amazing homemade onion relish followed by the tasty fish and chips with peas and homemade tartare sauce.
Breakfast was a generous buffet with quality butchers sausages and all the usual elements of a cooked breakfast, hot drinks, a selection of juices, yogurt, fruit, toast and pastries. For my grandchild, we were provided with a great travel cot in the room and highchairs for mealtimes. Our bed was comfortable with soft pillows. Our room was very quiet and we heard no road noise and we were not aware of any sounds from other people in the hotel. I would certainly stay here again.

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights during visit to UK and loved it. Room was comfortable, food good and the location great. My wife loved the deep soaking tub in the room. It's a quirky little hotel, with great charm. A couple of notes: 1) We didn't want to drive in Oxford, but this location is just a couple K from the Lower Heyford train station. Dropped car there, took train right to downtown Oxford. avoided driving and parking hassle. 2) Location is also very close to Blenheim Palace.

I stayed at the Holt on a recent business trip and found it to be extremely charming. The rooms were clean and seemed to be recently updated. As there was a wedding party in the hotel during my stay, the front desk offered to move me to the other end - excellent customer service! The restaurant was very good, but had a limited selection. The same goes for the bar, but don't let that keep you from making a reservation!
