Services
The Feathers is a 17th Century country townhouse hotel, situated in the heart of the historic market town of Woodstock, home to Blenheim Palace, seat of the 11th Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. From the front of the hotel, overlooking the restaurant, you will see a statue, which, we have been told, is said to represent the Virgin Mary.
It is with a heavy heart that we write this note; in order to comply with the UK government's directives, The Feathers will temporarily be closed until further notice. We will waive our cancellation penalties and if you have any questions please do get in touch. Whilst we are not able to confirm when the hotel will re-open, we will follow the UK government guidelines as they are announced over the coming weeks. Our reservation teams are continuing to work remotely and will be able to take reservations.
You might be surprised to learn that there are more than 21 rooms at The Feathers. From the outside we look deceptively petite, but inside we have a decadent selection of 16 spacious rooms and 5 luxurious suites to choose from. We've made sure that each of the rooms at our Woodstock accommodation have their own unique charm and generous surroundings; we think it's the only way to ensure a perfect night's sleep.
The Feathers is the place to come for a celebratory meal, relaxed lunch or Afternoon tea treat! Our restaurant, The Churchill Room at The Feathers, is fine-dining without the fuss. For lunches, drinks, and light meals al fresco, The Chartwell's Courtyard at The Feathers is the perfect place to go in Woodstock.

Delightful quirky hotel with comfortable beds, on the vintage side rather than boutique. Charming, welcoming, friendly staff and an exquisite meal in the hotel restaurant that evening. Our meal, 45 pp (4 extra for side dishes & 6 extra for cheese are optional) was so impressive we couldn't stop talking about it. Warm sourdough bread, 2 Canapes each, then (fresh) -dressed white crab- Beetroot cooked over coal poached fennel were wonderful, beautifully presented starters.
We sensed the passion and dedication in creating these delicate dishes. Our main courses, pan roasted halibut and duck were exceptional. The table next to us also had the duck and put it on par with a similar dish they had at le manoir des quat saison the day before - praise indeed! A pre-desert crunchy lemony mousse was a delightful palette cleanser.
Our deserts lived up to the very high standards of everything they preceded. A truly wonderful experience created by a very talented team led I was told after, by a certain genius called Luke and his partner. Awesome. Highly recommended, great value Treat yourselves and go.

We were given a voucher as a gift for afternoon tea, one of the nicest treats we had ever been given. Lovely warm welcome on arrival, the service was excellent, we sat in the garden as it was a beautiful sunny day and the spread of sandwiches and cakes were delicious and very filling to the point where we didn't eat anything else for the rest of the day. If you are reading this do yourself a favour and pay the Feathers in Woodstock a visit

The staff are excellent and they couldn't have been more accommodating and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel has plenty of character and quirky features resulting from years of transformation. It is decorated to a high standard that is complementary to it's age. Don't expect modern and boutique. What you get is nostalgic and a touch of heritage.

Great food and service. Nice room, pictures are from the annex, and on the 2nd floor so a few stairs to tackle first but worth it. All of the staff were super friendly and accommodating. Parking outside is for 3hrs but the reception team told us that the warden leaves them alone as none of the hotel's have parking here.

The Feathers isn't a terrible hotel but it is very old fashioned in every way, decor, service and amenities. Mismatched furniture and 1990s style swirly patterned carpets. No mini bar or safe in the room and no room service. Someone else mentioned that it was a glorified B&B which is spot on. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening, just didn't fancy it.
Breakfast was okay, nothing to write home about but it did amuse me when the woman at the next table asked for a cappuccino and was told guests weren't allowed that option at breakfast only tea or normal coffee. It felt like such a weird rule and slightly Fawlty Towers like. They have the basics of a lovely hotel but some retraining and investment is badly needed. Would not stay again.

I have a perfect stay here. Without doubt I would come back again and again. Greeted by the manager and got a pleasant surprise! The decor was wonderful a d made us feel like home. Had the half board stay and the dinner and breakfast was fantastic. I do have a high standard to my holiday break but I am a very happy guest Highly recommended! And thank you so much

Wow! Went to Woodstock to visit Blenheim Palace and afterward ask the kind lady working in the post office if she could recommend somewhere to have tea. She recommended this hotel and what a great place. Tea was served in the tavern part of the hotel which consists of a few small rooms. We were seated on the far side of the fireplace in a room with about six small tables.
The waiter was very attentive and provided very quick service. The tea and scones were delightful and the atmosphere was typical of an old inn in the British countryside. Once the fire was lit, the room really felt like something special. The outside seating for summer looked really inviting but it was too cold for this time of the season. Finally, what really made the visit that much nicer were the bathrooms. Very nicely set up and spotless. I highly recommend a stop here and hopefully in the future we will have time to spend the night as the whole place looks so inviting.
