Services
The Gaskell Arms, previously a 17th century coach house, is delightfully situated on the edge of the medieval town of Much Wenlock, near Ironbridge, Shropshire. Now a family owned hotel and restaurant, the Gaskell Arms offers hotel accommodation (rated 3* by the AA) with 14 rooms in total, including the Mews and Coach House.
A historic coaching inn from the 17th century, the Gaskell Arms has been a focal point in Much Wenlock since the beginning, welcoming guests with its stately bow windows and traditional appearance even today. Since the Georgian times the Gaskell Arms has held a prominent position in the travellers heart, with coach and horses in the 1700s, through to the arrival of the railway in Much Wenlock in 1860.
The Gaskell Arms in Much Wenlock is surrounded by some of the most wonderful countryside views around of Shropshire, but you don't have to look far to find your very own haven whilst staying with us, with the beautiful walled garden and terrace within our hotel grounds. The walled garden and terrace at the Gaskell Arms is no ordinary pub garden or hotel grounds. It is perfectly matched to our 17th century inn, in that it is hugely spacious and once there you could almost forget about everyday life.
Arrived at the 17th Century Coaching Inn, The Gaskell Arms Hotel mid afternoon and after parking the car in the spacious car park, was greeted with a friendly smile and welcome. The entire hotel is maintained and run to high standards. The youngsters under training in the dining room were wonderful hosts.

The location was great, the hotel was superb, the room number 11 was perfect, very clean and spacious for two of us with tea/coffee facilities, and the staff very welcoming and very helpful indeed. If i travel near this location again i would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely stay again.

We went for some food and drinks here and sat in the restaurant side which was lovely. The bar side was nice too though with a roaring fire on the go. There was a valentines day menu on offer so I went for the ham hock terrine starter and then had the lamb for main off that and it was delicious. Staff were all very polite. Some tables were already reserved so recommend booking ahead maybe but we got lucky as we got there just before food started at 5.30pm. Nice atmosphere and great food so worth a visit

Just had a weekend stay here. Delightful pub / restaurant/ hotel right in the heart of Much Wenlock. The building is historic on the outside & spotless on the inside, . How much Brasso do they use? Fabulous food, delightful staff - thanks to Victoria who works the bar in the evening & the lady who served us breakfast & dinner. Massive rooms, ample free car parking. Well stocked bar. Easy choice.

We stayed 2 night's, in a ground floor mews type annex. The room was a twin over 2 floors. Though small it was good for a couple of nights. The beds and ensuite were downstairs and a small sitting room upstairs. Breakfast was very good. Shortage of staff was problematic but never the less overcome by the management team. We had Sunday lunch and it was very good. The bar serves a good selection of drinks, trad beers, lager and ciders. Beware the coffee is a tad expensive. Overall a nice stay in an old coaching Inn.

Walked in off the street today for a meal. Was busy with more people coming in behind us. Found a table for four in what really is a lovely bar. Even though it was busy, incredibly hard working lady was very friendly and looked after us very well. 2 of us had the steak and ale pie ( which had half a side of beef in each) one had the steak cooked perfectly and one fish and chips which I was told was also very good. 3 of the party where on cokes but in pints and I was on the larger. 4 meals and 8 drinks for well under 80 that is reasonable pricing on any meal but at this quality absolute bargain Wonderful service, wonderful food and very reasonably priced. Strongly recommend.
