We loved our stay in The Folly, it was a really special holiday for my husband's birthday. The children thought the pool was wonderful and we all loved the boat to sit in by the river! Beautiful quirky decor, friendly hosts and a lovely, comfy apartment. We really hope to come back!

Fingals was a magical place and perfect for our world wide family reunion. The location, gardens accommodation and facilities suited our needs perfectly. Sheila and Richard were on hand if we needed them.

Lovely quirky/eccentric property. A little bit tired in places but never the less great for a family holiday.

We had a wonderful week at Fingals; a mixed generation family group aged 3 months to 63 loved swimming, grass court tennis and trips to the beach and local walks. Can't wait to come back.

You should be aware that this accommodation provider has a particularly strict policy for what happens if a guest is so unlucky as to contract Covid, and that it is rigorously enforced. Government guidance requires that providers "Ensure you have a policy in place which covers what to do if there is a case of COVID-19 in your accommodation facility. Guests with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 should return home if they reasonably can, but this may not always be possible." At Fingals the policy is: "If it is confirmed they have Covid 19 [guests] should return home immediately.

If a guest is too ill to return home immediately they will become liable for." In our case, we asked for an extra night (obviously at our cost) so as to plan a Covid-safe journey home made a lot more complex because of a toddler who had just received a Covid + result at the end of our holiday. We were initially led to believe that this would be fine, but at the last minute were told - very suddenly and emphatically - that we had no option but to leave immediately, which we were forced to do (in fact that we ought to have left the day before we got our result).

A very unique experience. Fingals is set in a beautiful, quiet valley surrounded by rolling hills. This part of Devon is secluded yet not far from Totnes or Dartmouth (20-30 mins by car). The owners, Richard and Shelia, are warm and welcoming hosts who will make you feel relaxed and well cared for. Highly recommended.

Lovely quirky apartments in a typical Devon valley, down narrow lane, superbly equipped, slept well in the comfortable bed, quiet with swimming pool. We had a balcony over the stream. Easy walk to Dittisham where you can take ferry to Greenways (National Trust) was home of Agatha Christie.

This is a lovely place. It is to be found off some very tiny country roads near Dartmouth. It is a beautiful place with a gorgeous garden. The pool is lovely and warm! Although it is quirky it has all the amenities you need for a great stay

We had a marvellous time with the family here. Four adults, two children ran around, explored, went missing, played games, BBQed, played tennis, swam, and ventured to Dartmoor and the surrounding area. Fingals was our base camp and it was a brilliant, quirky, unique and very very English which is what made it a dream. Inspired by art, seeing that there's an art gallery next door, this place made you feel like you had run away and were at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. We would highly recommend this little hidden gem.

What a lucky find. we stumbled on Fingals on our way back from Cornwall and were welcomed with open arms by Richard and Sheila. We woke to bird song and sunshine and had a most delicious breakfast. We loved it so much we stayed another night and spent the day in the magical, colourful garden, played tennis on the perfect grass tennis court, swam in their delightful pool and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Love this relaxing place to stay - its fun, lots of things to do, fantastic atmosphere. If you're looking for some anodyne sterile place to stay don't go here. This is easy going and it is like staying with friends for the weekend. Richard and Sheila are welcoming hosts and I will be booking again.
